Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Since this is an EE thread, I was told that Lavender Ameraucanas are EE because they are not a breed standard. So what do you all think about my little Fiona?
I think it is really Heeona. Also 7 weeks old note the comb and compare to my other Lav Ameraucana, who I am pretty sure is a she...

Here is 7 week old "Heeona" (center) check out the comb next to my other Lav Am Graylee (right)

Roostery feathers on the back??

Is this a rooster stance?

Heeona is 2x as big as my other Lav, Heeona is left, Graylee Center and check out the feathers on the saddle, they are different....

Okay, to all the experts what do you think?

Lavender Ameraucanas are a project color and for now they are considered Easter Eggers until they become an accepted color. I would keep an eye on Heeona, her comb is getting big and a bit pink.

I think you have a rooster. Sorry.

Thats what I think! I guess time will tell for sure, I may wait a couple more weeks. Does anyone know when sickel feathers and the roostery saddle feathers come in? I am keeping an eye out. This little one is only 7 weeks old.

@hens4thehudds- your Heeona has three row comb, tall stand, thick leg, wide girth, and is bigger than the other chick of same age. I'd agree with you that it's a he. I think he will be a beautiful rooster.

Thanks! I think he will be handsome too, I wish I could have roosters, because Heeona is a nice little guy. Oh well! I may wait a week or two. Just to confirm.

I have just gotten my first group of chicks... the Tack store tells me they are hens. I was reading this thread and beginning to wonder. The two brown-striped ones are Americuanas/Easter Eggers and the two black grey are Barred Plymouth Rock. Can anyone tell at this early stage if indeed these are hens?

Agreed, too young, post pictures when they're about 4wks. Ameraucana/EE pullets will have one row of "peas" while a cockerel will have three. Pullets tend to feather faster; tail & wing; noticeable around the first week. At about 5 - 6 wks Pullets have feathered backs, neck, crop area & comb not as developed....Cockerels backs will be "bare" combs pink if not red & developing, wing bow bare & carriage more erect. I've found it's alot easier to tell the difference between the sexes when there's alot to compare with. It's fun, keep posting pixs...

Heeona is a Cockerel (3 rows, reddening) & Graylee a Pullet (1 row, pale), BEAUTIFUL birds! Love the color.
