Also, as far as when they start developing the pointed saddle feathers, it seems to vary even among brothers from the same mother and father and same batch of eggs. One of our older ones started crowing and getting saddle feathers at like two months old. The other two from that batch didn't start getting their saddle feathers until 3 months old and still aren't crowing. The two younger ones started getting their saddle feathers and crowing at exactly two months old and were sparring and picking fights with the others and really getting obnoxious by 3 months.

Above Chip is 10 weeks old and has a single pea comb. Hoping for a hen.


Above is Dale at 10 weeks old. No muffs or beard but hatched from a blue egg. Single pea comb. Hoping we have a hen.


Above is Mooshoo at 10 weeks old. Definitely rooster. See pea comb is a light red and feather coloring.

I would love to know what breeds laid the larger brown eggs???

I am not satisfied with the size of my EE eggs and am looking to add one or two who lay large brown eggs to have eggs for baking.

In this bird, what is the likely cross that created her do you think? I have a 10 week pullet like her except mine has those barred brown feather throughout the body. Her head and neck is just the same.
