Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Yes it is, these are my first chickens ever and I have 24 birds with 6 different breeds, so it has been fun trying to figure out all of them, especially now that they are mostly feathered. But the EEs have been the most fun because you can really tell them apart, some of the other breeds it is really tough to tell the different ones apart.

I have 3 EEs, 2 black and 2 red sex links, 2 barred rocks, a silver laced Wyandotte, and a d'uccle. The EEs are so beautiful and have been so much fun to watch.

Not "sexing" related but I'm too excited not to share...I got my first ever egg this morning and it was from one of my three 18 week EE. Yay!! It was a beautiful, tiny green egg. At one point I thought 2 of my 3 might be Roos, but thankfully all 3 are pullets. Bring on those beautiful eggs!!

- Awesome!!! I am impatiently waiting to see what my two EE (19 weeks now) lay.......

Here are my 5 EEs, they are 5 weeks old and I am still trying to guess if they are pullets or cockerels. I am pretty sure #2 the black and white one is a cockerel just by the patchy coloring and I am not sure about #5 because she has always been very independent and has a red chest but please give me your opinion's as I am just guessing. And yes they are eating cold watermelon because it is 100 degrees outside.

2 is the only obvious male. With the rest, watch for red wing patches and black chest feathers as male signs (not a few pattern specks, blotches of black). A salmon or chestnut breast is a pullet but dark red is often a young male.

Pullet, 90% sure. The reddish feathers look brown on my screen and have nice, even patterning running through. Comb is undeveloped.

Thank you! I took another good look at her comb again this morning and its still really small, one row and very pale in color. I was more concerned with the reddish coloring, but even that seems to be a more brown the closer i look. I guess I was jumping the gun some, Im hugely disappointed that 2 of my brahmas ended up Roos so I so wanted this EE to be a pullet. :)

Thanks, yeah I am new to this but from what I have read it seemed like that black/white one is going to be a boy for sure. Good thing too since we named him Bull the first week since he would bully his way through everyone. Now the tides have turned and the girls bully him. Go figure.
