Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I'm getting sad because I don't think I have any roosters

can any one tell me about these others that aren't Americans?

Need breeds and ages to be much help. They both have developed combs and wattles starting, but that may be normal for the breed.

You will have no trouble picking up a few cockerels this time of year. There are many people who can't keep roosters and are looking to rehome boys from hatching eggs and sexing errors. Check craiglist or find the BYC thread for your local area and see what's out there. Often they will be very inexpensive or free and you will have a wide range of choice.

Ok my chickees are 4 weeks old- here is Esmarelda. Isn't she pretty looking? I love the coloring of her feathers, but I fear this is a boy. I read on here that black with silver is usually a boy.

I got 8 chicks at a fed store and 3 were supposed to be welsummers but people have told me they think they might be easter eggers. Any help on breed or gender will be appreciated.

Here is an update of my 3 EE chicks now that they are 5 weeks old. They all act and posture like girls but one of them is getting a pink comb already. The lighter one has some different coloring with the light buff color mixed with blue in a weird uneven pattern, but other than its uneven coloring, she acts like a girl and doesn't have comb color yet. The bottom one is the one with the pinkest comb, the picture doesn't quite show how pink it is, she was the one with the blond head as a chick.

Quote: The red patch one is a maybe cockerel, but I can't see well enough to be sure . The one next to red-patch would have white patches if a cockerel. Same goes for all the black/white ones in your first post. I don't see any white patches. They are all a bit too young still. So far, red patches is the only one headed toward boyhood, but wait another week to be sure. Does it have a wide comb? 3 distinct rows?

For sure not Wellies and possibly EEs which would have green legs, pea combs, and beards and muffs. I don't see fluffy cheeks, so hard to say. You'll have to wait to see if you get green eggs because they all look like pullets.

If you are really worried about the last one, a side view could confirm pullet, but I don't see any red on the wing, and she's got a nice salmon colored breast.

Thanks for responding. It has a narrow comb, with three distinct bumps, where as the one next to him, has the reddest and widest comb.
