Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Yes they were supposed to be pullets. I believe they came form Belt Hatchery in Fresno California. IN the first picture, I was referring to the chick by the brooder with the red coming thru on the shoulders and in the second pic, the one on the feeder. They will be 5 weeks on Thursday this week. The one on the feeder has the opposite colors coming thru on the chest. The back is chocolate with marks and the front is white with marks, but you can see that in the picture. I'm really hoping that the one on the feeder is a pullet because she is so calm and the other one is very domineering to all the other chicks and to people acting very cocky and has really thick legs and the comb is turning slightly pink. I'll take better pics tonight of all of them and post again. Thank so much!!!

All of my pullets from belt feathered quickly except one RIR. I am still waiting to determine. My ameracuna from belt is also 5 weeks, has a small yellow single row pea comb almost fully feathered. My two EE from a straight run form belt also have similar comb and fully feather.

I've never raised chicks and these are the first ones. I think they feathered fast but now I'm not sure. They will be 5 weeks on Thursday.

These are some of my chicks from belt. They will be 5 weeks old on Thursday. (Except the yellow new Hampshire in the middle) The one in the back is my Ameracuna pullet.

Remember these cuties?

Lightest one, reddish one and silver partridge-looking chicks are all EEs from the pullet bin at the RK in Bloomington. Purchased day before Valentine's. Pic taken 2-19-15. All feathered very quickly.

The same lighter colored EE (darker is a Light Brahma of remaining nebulous gender). Pic taken 2-27-15

Same light colored bird. Pics taken 3-7-15 (barely two weeks later).

Here's the red chick and silver partridge-looking EEs of same age. The dark reddish one to the left, and the light partridge one towards the back. Pics taken 2-27.

Here's the silver partridge (who turned out a mucky Colombian with red bleed). Pics taken 3-27

And here the boys are again. These were taken this afternoon. Just before I took these, Mr Mucky Colombian crowed three times in rapid succession, just to spite all the doubt I'd had concerning his gender (still has very round tail and hackle feathers, and absolutely no boy saddle feathers). They're eight weeks old today.
.

Here are two more who turned out to look not only very much alike, but almost identical to the red chick in the earlier pictures. The older two were purchased 2-7-15 and were a day or two old when I got them. This was taken 2-27-15. The darker one grew to have a black beard, and the red chick has slightly redder plumage than the other two (exceptionally slightly redder. Biggest difference between her and the gold one below is that she has a beard and this one doesn't)

The bearded one above was killed by the dog a few weeks after these pictures were taken, but her 'sister' is still alive and growing up lovely. These pictures were taken 3-27-15

These were taken this afternoon (4-7).

Truffle looks like a pullet at this point. Seeing a very even pattern that is uninterrupted by patches of color.

Peetry is a cockerel. Wide comb and red on the wings.
