Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Well heck.. missed that one. I find any bird that is very friendly when young or very attractive ends up being a boy at my place. It's why I have a rooster collection. I'm going to have to eat roo #4 q's he is not actively trying to kill all the young Cockerels that are coming of age. I mean I get it you are already # 4 out of 4...but rooster #3 didn't try to take you out...lol. either way I have too many roosters and have my eye on keeping one of the up and coming cockerels. So HATEFUL EE is becoming one of the dumpling gang. I have a buff orpington, a blue copper marans and a salmon faverolle that all get along. Everyone knows their place, but the EE is the youngest adult rooster and is just too uppity, and has the same coloring as my marans. ..blah blah blah off on a rooster rant. Lol

Well I was sure this was a girl...until she started getting some random red patches.

I'm not surprised he crowed. Red splotches and the black splotches on the chest were a dead giveaway.

Interesting, I have had very good accuracy picking pullets out of the TSC chick bins using feather sexing. The one I think I may have been wrong on was killed by the neighbors dog before I could tell for sure if it was a roo or a pullet. A friend taught me to do it, and she has also had similar accuracy. This has worked with EE, Wyandottes, Bantam chicks, Australorp, Welsummer, Specked Susseck, and Tetra Tint. They do have to be very young chicks that are just starting their wing feathers.

Thanks for your help PolarBear! I love your name :) I'm in NP, AK! Here are all of their combs. I'll start with my Amerecaunas (however you spell it). They are around 9 weeks now:

Leonard: started to make boyish noises today

700

Sheldon: vocalized boyish today

Molly:

Martha:

I believe these chicks above are boys. What happened to Martha's back?
