Returned to find that one of the chicks had posted for me.

I have an Orpington & Crested Cream Legbar mix (both parents purebred). She will likely lay greenish eggs (blue being dominant gene + the brown covering from the orp). So my question is can these be called Easter Eggers or must they have Ameraucana in the mix to get that label?

From my understanding everyone has their own definition of what an easter egger is. Wikipedia's definition: "An Easter Egger is any chicken that possesses the "blue egg" gene, but doesn't fully meet any breed standard defined in the American Poultry Association's (APA) standards, or in the case of Easter Egger bantams, the American Bantam Association's (ABA) standards." My personal definition pretty much follows wikipedia's, so, to me your orpington/ccl mix would be an easter egger, as long as she lays greenish eggs.

Although both parents are purebred, the offspring is a mix. I just thought "Easter Egger" sounds like a nicer label than "chicken mutt" or backyard mix." It will have a single comb, wattles, & no cheeks. (All my EEs have big cheeks, beards, & pea combs. The egg color is the only real similarity.)

Here is a picture that shows the wing and head well that I took this weekend. This is chick #1 that was bought as a rooster but is a suspected pullet. Does everyone still think pullet? I have a black copper maran chick that ended up being a roo whom is about 5-6 weeks old now so if they both turn out to be roosters then I'll have to figure out which can stay and which has to go.

I think pullet. Comb is still small and pink (not red) and more importantly, no reddish feathers on the shoulder/wing and an even feather pattern.

I call that chicks wing a turkey wing pattern. Has anyone had one similar I can't figure out what it's going to turn into. The rest I have a fair idea but this one has me stumped

Yours will look like the common type, but will be silver based (white/grey/black) instead of gold based, like mine below. I think it's called silver partridge.
