Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Illia...can I get your thoughts on a 2 week old or do I need to wait until all adult feathers come in? My daughter is holding Easter, our 13 day old EE ( sorry that the child with a brown shirt is holding the brown bird) To me it is typical chipmunk pattern that I am praying is a pullet. EE has less of a comb that i can see than the BO does.

hi I am new but with my chicks I was told the chipmunk looking ones are ameracauna chicks

Fancychick1, when you are able to, could you get some more photos of these?
I feel like the last one is likely a pullet, but I'd like to see the first two in close up, especially the combs.

The referenced post is over 4 years old so they likely aren't looking for help any more

Chipmunk is more than likely an EE, not an Ameraucana. In this page from the Ameraucana Breeders page, I see only chipmunk on the silver chicks. http://www.ameraucana.org/gallery.html

Lots of other breeds (though EE is not a recognized breed we still talk about them as one) have a chipmunk pattern as chicks.

The 2nd one is the one I'm not sure about it kind of has the red patches on its wings and I think that's what they said the cockerels had.

I agree with LadyCluck about the 3rd one looking more like a pullet. The combs on these two seem different than the usual pea combs we see. Do you know what breeds the parents are? I can't tell either of these two yet, but seeing why you suspect cockerels. Maybe there will be some changes by next week and you can post some more pics.

Thanks wishing4wings. I don't know anything about the parents I picked them out at a feed store just know they said they were ameraucana's. The three of them have been being raised by my silkie family. I got them so the one lone silkie that hatched would have company and to make the moma think her other three eggs hatched so she would get off them.
