This one throws me for a loop. What about this gray six week old?

The pictures are too far away to be certain. At 6 wks, with the size and color of the comb, I'm leaning toward cockerel, but not certain.
Same thing for the black one. Would need closer pics of both.

Not sure how old, but looks like a pullet at this point.

She/he is only about 5 weeks. That would be wonderful if she was a pullet. Even with the red coloring you still think that?

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone had a guess at what this little egger might be. I'm nervous it's a roo because of the coloring and comb. Also is quite aggressive to the other chicks who are a few weeks older... any thoughts?

I'd like to see a comb pic from the front. I think you have a little cockerel with a single row of growing peas and then the outer rows are just tiny bumps yet. But, it's early, yet.

It's not a pea comb. It's a single comb.

Hi there, I was sold some Ameracauna chicks but I'm not sure if they are the real deal or Easter Eggers. They do have the grey/slate legs but I'm not sure how else to tell the difference. I think I have quite a few roosters in the group. There are some that have very flat, wide combs that are only slightly raised. No bumps or "peas" like the ones that are obviously roosters are. I have not seen other photos of combs like this so I am curious.

This one I'm pretty sure is a rooster but am not sure EE vs. Ameracauna

And maybe the brown one on the roost is actually a pullet? Two out of ten would be nice lol.

5 weeks is young to be sure. The red doesn't look like rooster red, but maybe it hasn't come in yet. I had two red and white EEs last spring, pullet and a cockerel. Will see if I can find a picture. Still not used to this new BYC format.

Found it! These EEs were hard to tell apart as chicks by color. The cockerel ended up much darker red than the pullet, color concentrated on the wings. Even the pullet seems to have darker color on the wings, but it is not rooster red. You can see the difference in combs, too.

Here they were at 3 wks.

pullet... very thin ridge on the comb

cockerel... has wider bumpy ridge on his comb

There are only 8 recognized varieties of Ameraucana (black, blue, blue wheaten, brown red, buff, silver, wheaten, and white). Any unrecognized colors are considered project birds or crosses. You can see examples here

(There are also other characteristics a bird must have to be considered an Ameraucana.) EEs are basically a hatchery version of Ameraucanas... almost always non standard colors. An Ameraucana breeder will never sell you just "Ameraucanas." They always include the variety! Without a specific variety, you can be pretty sure you are getting EEs or crosses.

First pic is a cockerel. Very cool looking dude!
Next 2 pics (dark body/gold neck) is probably a Wyandotte cross based on the comb which looks more like a rose comb. This might be a pullet, but not sure. How old are they?
Fourth pic is another cool looking bird, probably another Wyandotte cross and probably a cockerel, but would need better pics to confirm.
Fifth pic, brown one on the roost is probably a pullet. Would need better pics to tell the other one roosting(???) and the one standing (probably cockerel).

Thank you! I'm learning a lot! I will try and be smarter about who I buy my birds from lol. On the other hand, they are gorgeous! I'm going to try and find that baby roo a good home next week. He's super handsome and friendly.
