Easter egger sexing

I had a black australorp that had a tail that would stick up high and slightly curl over. I asked and asked about her because I was worried she was a male. She was still a pullet lol. Some times they have big tails. But all of the feathers I am seeing are rounded and look female. I don't see male hackle or saddle feathers. Sry to your hubby. He is surrounded by females :gig

I think because shes so big also its throwing him off. I should have named her butterball because she reminds me of a round butterball turkey 😂

Agree with the others... girl.

Sometimes Easter Egger hens have a “roosterish” upright posture.

Pretty girl and I’m sure you’ll be getting some pretty eggs soon too.

Oh I hope so. I was reading that EEs can take up to 9 months to lay. These are my first chickens so I'm anxiously waiting for that first egg.

Mine took forever to lay but they both do. And they have different tail types. I’ve had an EE hen in the past that looked like yours and her tail was really tall and stood up like that too. I think there’s enough variety in this “breed” that the comb is the easiest way to tell first, and then the feathers. Larger redder comb than the others of the same “breed” and age usually says rooster. Them when they get their adult feathers it’s the pretty longer ones on the back I think they call saddle feathers that give boys away. I had one I kept calling her until I started noticing the pointed feathers. Then ‘she’ started crowing! 😂😂😂

Uh, EEs! I'm a novice at sexing any birds, but my EEs kept fooling me last year. I went to as many breed/gender threads as I could last year, trying to train my eye, and studying my birds, and every day I'd change my mind! Is he iz... or is she ain't? Lol. I think they were almost six months old before I was positive and by then any fool could tell! I had four cockerels and kept one. The other three made lovely dumplings and soup. My BA are much easier to identify this year.
