Easter Egger Sexing

We had all sexed Easter Egger chicks with a surprise cockerel. He was black and now black and white. He was always further along than the other chicks. Always the first to jump up and developmentally he looked 2 weeks ahead. We started getting suspicious of him around 8 weeks because he was SO much bigger. Bigger legs, more comb, 3" taller. Then around 12 weeks he started crowing. Our She was a HE.

FWIW, our pullets don't really have much of a comb at all. Even the cockerel's comb is pretty small (in my avatar pic). I'd keep an eye more on behavior and growth than anything.

10 weeks? It *could* be a slow developing cockerel, but I'm thinking pullet. That comb is so small and pale.

Update us in a few weeks!

Cherry and Overo - I am definitely inclined to think slow developing cockerel too, but I will hold onto a little hope! I'll be watching them with a closer eye and update again.

Thank you for sharing your experience! These were all supposedly sexed females from the feed store but I know there is always a chance for an accidental boy. So far, that one is the same size as the others and less inclined to jump on my lap than my other for-sure pullets, so I'll take that as a good sign

Alright, we're at around 14 weeks now and I'm just thinking a oddly colored pullet! She's grown some colorful hackle feathers but they are rounded rather than pointy, and there are no pointy saddle feathers to be seen. Comb has gotten a bit more red but still small. No attempts at crowing that I've seen.
