I moved them into my new brooder (made from a fridge) so they could have more room to grow and run around! They love it! When I put them in there they were doing what I like to call "happy flaps" cause they were so excited about their new setup! ❤ They were running and flapping their wings in a happy way. I have to check tomorrow to see how many of them have the 5 toes and black skin. I noticed when I was cleaning the new brooder today one of the chicks even had 5 toes on one foot and 4 on the other! I will pick the best ones to continue my project. The rest may be sold but honestly I may keep them all and just keep them seperate cause I love them already. anyways.... I will update y'all again tomorrow when I check them over for 5 toes + black skin. Hopefully most of them have what I need!

Hey y'all! Me again! I checked today to see which chicks had the 5 toes, black skin and feathered legs. I discovered a mixture of things. Lol. Only 1 doesn't have the feathered feet BUT their toes are where things start to get funky. All of them have the black skin. 2 of them have the 5 toes so they are definitely going to be my breeders. The one without feathered feet also has 5 toes. 3 of them have 4 toes.... and 3 have 4 toes on one foot and 5 on the other..... not what I was expecting but I can make it work.

Yep. With my luck I'll probably have nothing but cockerals. I will probably breed some back to a silkie and others back to each other. I want to breed the 5 toed babies together and breed the rest back to a 5 toed silkie in hopes to get some 5 toed babies from them. Hope that makes sense. ❤

I will be posting updated pictures as often as possible of my chicks as they grow. I recently crossed my black Easter egger rooster over a bearded (partridge?) Silkie hen. I now have 9 F1 silkie/EE chicks. They will have regular feathering since they are F1 but some have dark skin, 5 toes, feathered feet ect. I will be using most or all of them as breeding stock to create my Silkied Easter eggers. It should be interesting watching them grow. I want to see what color they turn out to be. Some say blue, some say black, some say black with silver leakage ect. Obviously I have a couple that will be black or blue cause they are already solid black/blue. I have a couple though that have the chipmunk markings on them. One has strong chipmunk markings and 2 others have chipmunk markings on the head while their body is black. Anyways.... make sure to watch this thread to see them grow! here are pictures from today! They were hatched October 18th so they are now 1 week and 1 day old. I will probably comment new pics weekly. ❤

Awesome! My barnyard mix EE cockerel crossed with my two silkie hens, one is a frizzle. I now have two very cute chickies (3 weeks old), the one from the frizzle is showing frizzle feathering, but the other one has regular feathers so it seems. No leg feathers that I can see so far. Both have 5 toes, and black skin, and both are grey at the moment.

Hoping for hens but bet both r roosters hahahaha.

I will be interested in watching your wee ones grow along with mine

Awesome! My barnyard mix EE cockerel crossed with my two silkie hens, one is a frizzle. I now have two very cute chickies (3 weeks old), the one from the frizzle is showing frizzle feathering, but the other one has regular feathers so it seems. No leg feathers that I can see so far. Both have 5 toes, and black skin, and both are grey at the moment.

Hoping for hens but bet both r roosters hahahaha.

Update! My favorite chick is showing some odd coloring! What the heck do you call that color?! They are growing so fast! It looks like most of em are gonna be black/blue except for my favorite which is getting black and white looking feathers. Any ideas on his/her color? ❤
