Easter egger without muffs and beard

My EEs, some straight single combs, some have no muffs,,
But what makes mine really different is we have feathered feet.
Dominate does not mean mandatory,,,,

I have a 16 week old ee without muffs but she has a pea comb and slate colored legs...I am waiting to see what color egg she lays. She came from a farm store.

There is no genetic link from muffs, tufts, or leg color to egg shell color. I've had plenty of EE's that laid blue or green eggs with all kinds of variety in these traits. I'll show a few of them that I made. Mine don't necessarily meet expectations.

There is a partial link between pea comb and the blue egg gene. They are so close on the DNA strand that they are transmitted together 97% of the time. I have had a green egg laying EE that had a single comb, not a pea comb, but the hen having a pea comb is a good sign she might lay a green egg. And of course there there are several breeds that have a pea comb that do not lay blue or green eggs.

Still you odds are better since she has a pea comb. But only time will tell.

I bought "ameraucanas" from Murray McMurry. They are really Easter Eggers and have rose combs. They lay blue eggs and so far they will NEVER lay in a nest box that already has an egg in it! The eggs are on the small size (so far), but so pretty!
