Hi
I haven't posted in a very long time, as I was out of the chicken thing for awhile. Now we are able to have chickens again!! Yay.

With that said, I picked up 10 straight run EE/OE they are now about 6-7 weeks old. I have a pretty sure grasp of who is who, I just want to confirm before I rehome the roosters, as we are not allowed them within city limits.

They look like they are labeled right. What is the OE cross? Cream legbar and welsummer?

I was told the black are the OE cross.. but.. no idea really... they are just all mixed breed. Glad I'm hopefully on the right track so far, have done a lot of reading on identifying EE, as apparently they can be tricky :)

Oh okay. Most of them look like crested cream legbar crosses. I see the one has muffs and looks EE and the black male with the pea comb might be an EE cross. Some people call any cross an EE, but typically they are a cross with Ameraucana or Araucana in their heritage so they'll usually have muffs (but not always, especially if from Araucana lines) and green or grey legs. Those CCL mixes will have blue egg genes as well though, so depending on what they are crossed with you should have nice eggs ranging from light blue to green.

I think the one you have the ? on is a Roo, just a feeling though. And the black one that you have labeled hen- it's got a little too pink a comb for me. But I'd wait and see. Update in a few weeks- I'd like to know if I'm right!

thank you, yes the 1 other black makes me go hmmm... sometimes,as it does have longer tail feathers than the hens, time will tell.. and the ? I am leaning towards roo as well cos it has been a turd since day one and has an attitude.

I have confidence the 3are roos this weekend, and then it will give the other roos a chance to mature more!

Thank you, learn more every day, regardless of the breed I want fresh eggs :) I did a quick search and they look definitely like CCL crosses the few. That's ok though :)
