Easter eggers probably aren't eggers?

Here you can see more of the back feathers of one of the white ones. I thought she was developing saddle feathers. Her tail feathers lil like the roster in front of her. But she doesn't have a comb or waddle. All the white ones have same sized legs too.

Thanks for all your help. I was kind of panicking on what to do with all roosters. This gives me hope.

In my (limited) experience, the roos have significantly thicker legs than a same age/same breed pullet. So that's another indicator. My roo also walked like a roo from ~4/5 weeks. Really boxy angular shoulders, the pullets just glided while he kinda strutted. Not sure how to describe it.

Ours did the same thing. At 4 weeks it was apparent he was a he. I was in denial for another 4 weeks...until he started to crow.

I think I'm much better at telling whether others' birds are male or female. For my own birds, there's a lot of emotions involved which clouds the issue until it becomes really obvious. I was pretty disappointed my roo was a roo, but there was just no mistaking it from an early age, at least for him.

To better see the true shape of the saddle feathers put your hand or a piece of paper under them. That way you won't be fooled by the patterns and colors.

TSC did us dirty, too. We got 4 EEs and ended up with 1 cockerel as well.

They're just a middle man. Mine uses Hoover"s hatchery and sexing is not 100% accurate. Plus the breeds are often mislabeled and they have gotten straight run batches that were labeled as pullets. TSC has NO way to verify sex or breed of the chicks they receive.

There was a mistake made, but no one was done dirty dear friend.

ETA: it still stinks to get a cockerel when that wasn't your plan. Sorry for your experience!

Indeed.

Vent sexing of just-hatched chicks is never more than 90% accurate and all hatcheries tell you this at some point in their catalog or on their website.
