Thanks! Kate is my favorite, and I was going to be really upset if she turned out to be a William (She was named a few days after the royal wedding, so she is named after the Duchess of Cambridge....we have a Pippa too).

I got my EE's at Little Birdie Hatchery in Wake Forest, NC. They are just down the road from me, and they have a lot of breeds. I had no idea I would like EE's so much. Their colors are splendid, and I love the chipmunk cheeks.

I got home to late to take pics of the others, but I will get those tomorrow. They were already roosting and singing themselves to sleep when I got home!

I have had hens that crow. One was an 8 or 9 year old Americauna mix. She didn't crow until she became quite old. She would crow several times every morning at dawn. I had to catch her in the act because I was so confused about the crowing. I have 2 year old hen that was crowing in the morning a month or two ago, right before she went broody on me. She hasn't been crowing since she's been broody. Some hens will crow in the absence of a male, but they will not crow as much or as often as a roo would. It is usually just a first thing in the morning crow, and then it's over.

Do you ever hear the crowing at dawn? Go out and see if you can catch her in the act!

That is interesting, and it makes me wonder if it is one of the hens in my older flock. They are 1 year old. Stewy (rooster from Hades) has been gone since December and our boss hen was taken by a fox in May. Maybe they need a replacement.

The EEs are so pretty! I really love yours' colors and they all have the muffs too. How awesome! I also have had hens crow, not like the roos, but crow they did!

They all look like pullets to me. With my EE's, at 8-9 weeks it was obvious which were roos. At 12 weeks old, none of those look like obvious roos to me.

My first two EEs looked like your Sandy, and that is their name too. They are almost 2 years old, still lay, one aqua egg and one pinkish egg. If you have no other white w/ red on the back EEs, then I would say #3 is possibly a boy. Thighs

These were my EE roos. Red Fred still is, he keeps the peace in his hen house that he share with 2 Silkie roos and a few ladies. He will get more girls when the babies are a bit bigger that are in the garage. I figure about 4-5 weeks so that they don't get bullied. I gave the other one away along w/ his brother. They were making the girls crazy. All in all, my experience w/ EE roos is they are generally even tempered, take care of their girls and are good boys. I've had a flogger, was the first bird I culled. My NN roo has to be reminded who is boss, he gets held quite a bit and his wattles rubbed infront of the hens and Dh walks him down about once a week to keep his memory fresh. He takes care of the girls and as long as he responds to "anger management training" he has a home. I have at least 3 little boys in the garage that can replace him if needed.
