I have been trying to do research on Easter Eggers for a while now and I realized that we don't have a page about them!! It's so hard to find anything online so I am making this in the hopes that people will use it to tell and learn information about EE's These are my two EE's they are 6 months and a week and have not started laying! Their names are Ester and Willow and are posted in that order as well!

EEs technically aren't a breed, they're like an off brand Ameraucana. Would you rather have a Oreo or a "stuffed sandwich cookie"? I think the off Brand is just as cute, I guess that's because I'm not looking for show quality or wanting to breed them.

I would guess most of my girl are Olive Eggers actually, but I will know for sure when they start laying.

I think one is actually part Salmon Faverolles, but wanted to show her off anyway.

Depending on that breed, some may not grow bigger then you would usually expect, I call them miniature EE and I have one to prove it, mine is a beautiful black EE with beautiful feathers, she laid her first egg being 7 month old, her eggs are small almost like it comes from a dove, they haven’t gotten bigger yet, I don’t think they will, I feed her some of the best treats and protein that I can get my hands on, still no luck, I don’t think they will so moving on, never the less they are beautiful pets that can get along with children and adults, never the type to be noisy, you can also catch them with ease just by reaching over and bending your hand and making it seem like a tree branch, she is a beautiful chick, me and my family we adore her but she isn’t for egg producation more for adding colour and beauty to your flock, I have 14 more that I purchased and some of my baby chicks are exact her size and are only one month and half old so this shows you that EE are either a slow grower or don’t grow at all.

They love eating cooked rice I usually boil mine and soften it with some more warm and break it into tiny pieces, brown rice seems to be a favourite also, my chick loved lettuce I believe all chickens love green vegetables, corn, boiled eggs, if you have an Easter Egger that’s a hen you should be good with mess and noise - Good luck

I prefer Easter Eggers to Ameraucanas. In my experience they lay better, which makes sense because they're usually hatchery bred. Mine came from Belt Hatchery and lay a bluish egg. I bred them and the offspring lay green or blue as well, but this isn't guaranteed since they can carry one or two copies of the blue egg gene, or sometimes none. They're good foragers, curious and healthy.

ETA: Mine started laying promptly between 5-6 months, which was in winter.

Just turned four months a few days ago. I'm eagerly waiting for the first egg! Hopefully it's soon!

Beautiful EE!!
Sorry, that chick is much bigger then mine as it seems mine could possibly be mixed with another breed to make a miniature, not really a good picture though, it’s too upclose, but what I’ve researched and learned that Easter Egger some may grow and same may stay small, chickens are all different like human beings with their personilities, I would wait until 7month to see if you can get some eggs, could be earlier too I’ll take a picture of my chicken and post it here later

Just imagine this, if a chicken could live up too 8 years or longer or shorter depending on that owner and depending on how well it’s been taken care off,
let’s say 5 year’s, that’s a whole lot of years to lay eggs don’t you think? which starts at 7 months, so don’t rush at all, just be patient it will happen before you know it, backyard chicken eggs are different in colour then store bought which I assume is much healthier since it’s pretty organic than factory

I love your EE's mine are also from a hatchery Meyers Hatchery and I have heard that they do lay better than Ameraucanas that is partially why we got them instead of Amerucanas. I do thinkt aht some EE's are a part Amerucanas and I think one of mine is.
