If you start with a blue egg layer and cross it with one that has a brown egg gene, you will probably get a green egg layer. The males seem to carry the genes that determine egg color of the next generation. EE produce a lot of very large colovrful eggs, ranging from very dark robin egg blue to teal to olive green to green drab and a few light pink to a rosey brown that they refer to pink. Someone told me they get yellow eggs, but none of mine do, yet?... I have gotten a few gray, though. They lay like brown layers, right through the winter nd are very goode layers, 6 to 7 in the summer and 4 to 5 in the winter, unless they are in molt. Hope this help!
I love my 30 or so easter eggers.. Black seems to be a dominate feather color with these birdes. I started with all colors and cominations of EE's, Most wre rumpless and still are, most were bewarded wit feathery cheeks, but some I bought eggs over
Ebay hatched out mostly black and layed green eggs and do not have feathery faces. I started out with all blue egg layers from McMurrays and the eggs I bought over
ebay were in blue eggs, but the offspring mostly lay green eggs, so I guess they had a brown rooster, with their blue egg hens?
Hope you enjoy your EE's ! Pretty birds !
