easter eggers

I love them! They are easy to handle if I need to, calm, and they lay such gorgeous eggs - I get both green and blue from my 5 girls. I love being able to identify which is which a glance, unlike our 5 Golden Laced Wyandottes that we just call "The Quints" because we can't tell them apart.

Now, that said, I must add that we are new to chickens....got our first ones in February....so I'm not an expert. But I think the fact that they have been so easy for this newbie to care for and enjoy says a lot about what a joy they are to own.

I have a 20 week old not the human friendliest bird, not aggressive at all just doesn't want to cuddle lol but super nice, sweet and very friendly w my other 6 hens. Accepts new ones right away and cannot wait for her to lay beautiful eggs.

My EE from Privett hatchery that I got last year is the sweetest, friendliest chicken I have. She likes to be held and falls asleep in my and my daughters arms. This year I ordered 2 from Meyer and one of them is my most skittish out of 19 chicks that I got from them. The other one is not as skittish but certainly far from being cuddly. They will eat from my hand, but that's about it.

My EE just laid her first egg this morning and man was I excited!!! Very gorgeous blue egg. Behavior wise my EE is a little timid and not as human friendly has my black sexlink and mottled java. She is very protective of her lady friends and will chase predators off. Very docile when held though and is typically a very vocal lady. She is becoming much more docile and in time I think she will calm down a bit. But until then, I don't mind having another feisty lady around :p
