Eastern Panhandle WV (MD, VA, PA) Chickenstock -July10th Gower's Feed

What a great day! I came home with 2 Welsummers chicks, 1 Buff Orpington chick, and a Silkie from Nursecat9! All my new babies are in their cage beside me doing great and getting spoiled already.

Nursecat9 - the Silkie you sold me has 5 toes on one foot and 4 on the other! lol

That was a lot of fun (well, besides my 2yo getting cranky towards the end

!!! My girls had a great time, and the only new bird we came home with was a silkie for my dd!! Of course my dh told me he would pack his bags if I brought home any more, but hey- she is for the fair-lol (we use this excuse a lot)!!! Seriously, we got rid of a lot of chicks and met a lot of nice people

. Thanks to Linda for testing and MsBear and everyone else I am missing who helped out!

Do we know a date for the next one? Not sure if we'll hatch so many chicks for the fall one- do most people just sell older birds then? Thanks again everyone!!

I had so much fun at chickenstock~I sold all my birds I brought and only bought one silkie from peachick!

It's soooo cute! Thanks Erin for lettin me set up under your canopy. Can't wait for the next chickenstock, maybe we can get a prize drawing table set up next time or something.

Peachick- as soon as she calles me I will pass your info on. She took my lasy BLRW roo. So I sold out! Msbear right after you left and we were getting to coop turned so the door would close a lady can up asking if we had it for sale. I gave her your BYC name to her and the website for BYC she has my card I told her you have a link to your coop page on here. She also has my card incase she does not find you on here. We had a great time. I enjoyed sneaking down to Peachicks then getting told no more when I came back.

Wish I could get some more breeds but my coop builder is on strike. Msbear he did just what I said he would, but I just kept right along got everything set up all my chicks are using it they love it. After hubby's i could build one you did not have to buy fit ,he is glad he did not have to now. Men - I can do it better and sry about it even harder. I may have just have fixed his strike! LMAO.

How about the last Saturday in September... right before the Fall shows? Im thinking everyone liked this place better but, we should probably vote. lemme try and figure out that poll thing

I am just so tickled.. I cannot believe I unloaded so many chickens.. SC,. yes, the zoolady took the java pair.

I spent the day cleaning and disinfecting coops and now everyone's all spread out. I noticed a HUGE difference this morning at around 5:00 when I only heard like 5 roos instead of like 15!! ahahhahahahahah Shew!

Erin,
I also spent the day cleaning coops and moving chickens around. But I spent a large part of the day chasing the rosecombs that I got from you. The rooster got loose and then the female got away from me while I was holding her trying to coax him back. I finally caught her and put her in a dog cage to keep him in the area. I was so afraid that they were going to fly out of the yard. We were able to grab him finally and put them both in their new coop with Rosie. All seem to be fine now.
Hopefully that won't happen again, at least not until after they know where home is.
BTW....I forgot to ask what their names are?
Anne
PS Thanks for arranging the swap.

hahahaahhaah They are flighty little devils when they are unnerved. Once they settle in you won't have to worry. I've actually had the same thing happen to me earlier this spring after I opened a box that just arrived from California. Needless to say, they were ready to get the heck out of that box!! I was pretty worried they would leave but, I think, all the other chickens around made them feel at home... so they pecked around and roosted in a tree where I went out and scooped them

Im glad you're enjoying the rosecombs. I have way too many to name now, so they are free in clear in that department. Good Luck with them!

Erin-
Just wondering if you have quail and Buckeyes all the time. I thought about the Buckeye's all day yesterday wishing I had gotten them. If the quail housing works out I'd like to get a few more of them also. Your post about a Sept show has me thinking!
