I had a trio of solid whites. Till today. I came home and went to fed. My oldest hen was lying dead. Its the first bird I've lost in 2 years, without racoons involved. I might have a few next year. I'm going to check with a friend this weekend and see if he has any extra hens. I'll ask about males. I would like splash cochin amd partridge cochin bantams.
Thanks
Danny

Danny....a friend lost her white Jap roo and is looking for a replacement. Will you be selling any of yours...or eggs?? There is also a man below Knoxville who has Japs...that is where my friend got her pair. She had trouble hatching her eggs out though. It seems like the chick would be fine and after 4 days gradually start getting weak and die. Any ideas?? I will also check to see what she has in cochins right now. Are you looking for Bantams?

Danny... I have a pair of white wyandotte bantams for sale right now, if you are interested

Bairo... I also have MULTIPLE pairs of Delawares available now. one from Morrow line, two from Braden, and two from my line..... just sayin'

I'm leaning toward going to Newport, possibly will show. I don't know though... with my work schedule it can be REALLY hard to get there to enter birds. If I enter any it will be my bantam Delawares for sure and possibly my bantam barred rocks.

Hope everyone is well... sun is comming up... I got to go to sleep to do it all again tommarrow.

Cybercat breeds Partridge Rocks, I believe. You can try looking back a couple of pages and contacting her. I would love Partridge Wyandottes. Do you have bantam or LF?

Phew. I was afraid you had LF and I would be trying to justify another breed.

I like the big girls. Well, except one silkie for my daughter and Bob and chicks (OEGB and her mutts). Actually, the only birds I kept out of my huge McMurray order were the two bantams... Maybe moving towards the little ones after all...

Thought I would offer some trivia.

The most yolks ever in one egg = 9 (NINE!!!)

The average American eats over 80 pounds of chicken each year.

The average domestic laying hen lays 255 eggs per year (Heritage Breed)

It takes about 4 1/2 pounds of feed for a chicken to produce a dozen eggs. (Heritage breed)

The most eggs laid by a chicken in one day is seven. (poor girl)

The largest recorded size of a chicken egg was 12 oz and measured 12-1/4" in diameter. (Yes that is nearly 6 times larger than a large egg)

The waste produced by just one chicken can supply enough electricity to run a hundred-watt lightbulb for about five hours.

If you just hate chickens, you may be Alektorophobic.

If you make the chickens think it's daylight, even at night, they'll lay eggs that are bigger with harder shells.

The chicken pox weren't named after chickens or anything to do with chickens. The name came from an old English expression "gican pox", meaning "itching pox".

In Ancient Rome someone who said to you "You were raised by a hen", was giving you a compliment.

Many recipes requiring eggs specify the use of large eggs, so if the eggs you have available are smaller or larger, it is beneficial to know the size equivalents. Use the following guidelines to achieve a quantity that should work well for most recipes.

* 5 medium eggs = 4 large eggs = 4 extra large eggs
* 6 medium eggs = 5 large eggs = 4 extra large eggs
* 7 medium eggs = 6 large eggs = 5 extra large eggs

Hi, I just joined a little while ago to ask about my three chickens. Looks like I have fantastic luck and have two roos and one hen.

Thats great... I knew you had some dels, but thought you had gotten rid of all them. Interested in any of mine? What would you want for A roo and at least one hen from each line (if not all the hens) LF only BTW

PMing you!

Hey all, just wanted to put it out there that I might be selling 2 or 3 easter egger pullets, they're POL (any day now!) PM me if interested, I bought them from LC Feeds. Not very impressed at the colors I got and the lack of eggs (I bought them in march as chicks and yet to get an egg). They're a stand-offish type breed and are very smart, I had to clip they're wings because they we're flying to the top of the run and roosting in a high branch in a tree. I have no idea what color egg they'll lay either, they were an impulse buy

Also, 2 of my BLRW roosters need to go just not sure which one I want to keep yet.

Thanks, but Im only interested in the partridge wyandotte bantams-for now. But if I hear of anyone interested I'll let them know.
Thanks
Danny
