Thanks for understanding....I have only found one so far but did not want you to take chances either. I almost hate to go all the way to valbazen, but dont want to risk anything trying to get these dels ready for breeding program and NPIP at first thaw.

I think the more the merrier for the freezer camp party.

Daphne...you sure you dont mind? I was really just teasing you when I said you volunteer

it looks like it might be a party though, LOL

I'm glad you did. It makes sense to have it here. I just thought it was funny that Stacy thought I might wuss out. As if... hahaha.

I guess time will tell now... lol

So are we waiting until after the holidays?

After the holidays would be better for me, but I don't want to wait until no one needs it anymore. We could do it in December if it works better for everyone, it might actually motivate me to do some outside work this weekend.

I hope to not have to process any more of mine until late spring. I would still host one before then just so I can learn how.

OOOOH! I've been wanting to try Freedom Rangers! Stanglover, I know you weren't happy with your experience with them in fall. Think they'd be worth it in the spring?

A guy I work with was just telling me this week that he want to learn how to do it. I know that I am nowhere near ready for that! Baby steps, remember?

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know I keep seeing someone on CL trying to sell some Egyptian Fayoumi chickens and thought if anyone was looking for a small exotic chicken... look it up, they keep posting them so obviously not many people know of them...

YEAH!! I bet with the cold winter we had the year I decided to raise them, though they should have been ready in Nov... all that dang snow!!! They made great fryers!

ETA: It wasn't that I hated the freedom rangers, it was when I bought them... between the cold weather (I couldn't free range them in snow) and leaving a heat lamp out since they were kinda young and then butchering and cleaning them while not being able to feel my fingers, them being much smaller than expected for there age (compared to a cornishX) I will never do them in the summer/fall/winter! They need warm weather (not hot or cold) and bugs/grass to free range on... So I say, go for it! Try to get them delivered in the begging of March-April... so then you'll butcher them by 16 weeks of age... see I thought I would have the same kind of weather we had the year before (warm days in october and november) and it didn't happen that way.

Baby steps? What you do is wait till your good and mad at DH then dive right in. You catch my wife at the right time & she could take care of 10 of them before it was out of her system. LOL

they got some weight not huge mind you but they should make a good showing. I gotta get a set of scales before we do them just to see. They are due week before x-mas. My sister & family are looking forward to eating my chickens.
They really haven't been too bad as far as mess but I will never do them again this late when they can't be on grass & moved around, they definitely need more bugs & grass than this time of year offers.
