bairo,
So, I read everything-- I just use the Boss to get them to turn the litter, I reduced it to 1 handful. I can go to free choice on the OS.
1. what do I put it in? I've just been throwing it like the boss.

2. Can I finish the bag of faithway 22%--mix it with the 16%, or give it to my parents for wild bird feed?

I have added a dishpan (about 7 inches deep) with sand, topsoil and ashes for a dust bath. I think the sides are too high and that's why they don't seem to use it.

3.Any idea how short the pan sides should be? I'd like to only have one side lower-so the dirt stays contained--would that work?
the roost deck is directly over the dustpan, about 10 inch clearance, should I move the dust bath pan??

I'm glad your keeping some birds-- I agree with the statement that it's a good thing there is not an instant button to change things, my dogs and donkey would probably have whiplash.
Mix it with the 16....
Dont worry about the OS, you dont need it.
no clue on the dust bath thing....I would think that if they wanted to take one that the sides would be fine.
you might want to move it though so no poo gets in there from the roost.

OK, that will work.. no problem with poo dropping into the dust bath we have a 3 inch deep deck under the roost bar filled with stall freshener PDZ that I sift the poo out of every day,..NO smells, Love it and read about it on BYC. I'll move the bath in case they can't get between the deck bottom and the pan sides.
Should I have free choice grit?? which is what I thought the O. shells was for...re-read my poultry books my mistake.

, Im sure you'll sell some or all
Kind of a long drive with 20-30 chicks a 4 and 5 year old ;-) I did hear that Cleveland , TN now has a farmers market in the North end somewhere that opened last weekend $25 for a year pass to set up. But, then I'd have to buy or make travel cages. Maybe in the future but not possible ATM. I need to get the NPIP lady out here first. She's coming in 2 weeks. Then I can get things rolling. but for now I just need to thin them out. I got a new broody starting. We took away her eggs hoping to snap her out of it. she has been collecting eggs as they are laid lol.

Hi folks. I got a few slw's from backyardchickens and the quality of the birds are not what I was hoping for. they are very poorly laced. so I was wondering where I might find a really good roo that meets SOP . anyone got 1 to part with? maybe I could breed it back in them. thanks

Hope so! I think we are going to the Dalton Flea Market this Saturday. Next Saturday I will surely go and check it out. I'm so glad they put one close. That one in Chatt is not really a farmers market IMHO.
