and we still wont have everything planted.

@Stang It belongs to the neighbor. There is a bigger tom and a hen that has 1 chick. They were in the front yard. Couldn't get close enough to get a good picture of them. Also a peacock on the loose. Could hear it, just didn't see it.

Oh, darn, that sucks... Pretty bird though!

@ barnqueen.

Usually the females have a darker stripe or V shape on top of the head and darker clearer eye liner.

Here the two in the middle ae males and the two outside ones ae females. The female at the left is harder to tell with the darkness of the stripes...but the eyeliner is darker and more defined.
Only one looked like these and it was one that did not hatch. The other one had stopped developing about 5-6 days ago. I really think 2 are marans and not sure about the 3rd.

Well I did it! I got all my extra chickens gone. I also got LaMar gone. So now I"m in the market for a blue copper maran or splash maran rooster for new gene pool. So any one within my area who may have one for sale let me know. thanks
I have a blue maran roo needing a home. He is about 4 months old now and needs to move on!

Ok so what did I miss? It's been a while since I was here, lots of work and I have been working on a quail project, have the last guy hatching tonight, such tiny guys, but wonderful layers. I also have some mottled and porcelain D'uccles hatching in a few days, they are quickly becoming my favorite breed, they never fail to make me laugh after a stressful day at work.
I have to confess, created a monster, my friend only wanted 2 small hens when she started a few weeks ago, as of yesterday she is up to about 40 chickens now
