I would love it if we could get together and buy a pellet machine. I've even been shopping around for a used one. There's GOT to be a cheaper, better way.

I'll have to miss this get together. My birds are all looking fine, but I love you guys (and your birds) to much to risk it.
Ya I would like to make my own feed also, seems like we spend a medium fortune on feed.

As was suggested earlier, what if we DO NOT bring any animals to the picnic. Do you still think it would be too much risk?

Besides we

you too and really want you there.

I've had the opposite experience here in Anderson County. Our co-op's feed quality is better than our TSC's Dumor feed. For whatever reason, the Dumor looks like it's been beat to death before it is on the sales floor. It's a shame, too, because I like the fact that the Dumor pellets are smaller. My big girls are fine with the co-op's bigger pellets, but my bantams are not fans.

I am buying Nature's Best organic feed from Agrisupply right now and paying a stupid amount of money.

I've been keeping my eye out as well. Only thing is that we need one about about two sizes up from the smallest one to handle making feed for several people (or its going to run all night long) I figured we need a minimum of 8 people to make it even partly affordable. Of course I have a wine taste on a beer budget...so maybe I should stop looking at the big shiny ones and find something cheaper, LOL You know how guys are with big shiny things

There is that one start up company out there that is not "certified" organic, but is using only NON-GMO ingredients and not using soy (replaced with field peas) They are being very slow to expand though and I have not had luck yet getting any to even try.

I think east Knox is about as central as we can get, after doing a chart plot of where everyone lives. The only person it kind of hurts is chigger way up there close to JC. I think Stacy is about 55 away and the rest of us are anywhere from 10-45. Im all for another one as I had to miss the last one. We better do it quick though.

Daph....what do you think is the closest place to lets say the Mall in east knox? Without going to much farther east so we dont kill stang and stacy and the others over that way.

x2

its probably the acid from the toms. Too much at one time can get to them. But every time mine are out the Ameraucanas haul butt to the tom plants and go crazy, so I throw a couple over into the run every few days
Do you cut them up into little pieces? Or whole and let them peck?

Look how happy that little boy is to have his arm around her? She is a knock-out. Those eyes......gorgeous.

Rodney & AJ, seem you need to build cages, and bar the windows! You're in for a long ride of ups and downs of boys and heartache... I think I brought home at least 5 different guys to my mom, who wasn't very nice to any of them...

Then I realized I just needed to stop bringing them over... until I knew they could survive her...

I was a Southern States Coop store manager in Mebane NC for 5 years from 86 to 91.

If one of our feed mills was cranking out crap like I've seen in this sack, I would have drove to Durham and throttled the Feed Mill manager for the lack of any quality control.

You are only as good as the last sack of feed that you sold.

I wrote an email to the local location in Jonesborough with hopes that they forward it on to the regionial feed rep. for our area.

If they act on it or not, I hide and wait.
You might have had better feed... but around here they suck and I can't trust what they use since it is such low quality to begin with. Not that I completely trust Purina/Dumor but at least I know the recipe doesn't change weekly.

Personally, I would love to be able to feed organic non-GMO feed but I'd have to order it and have it delivered and that is pricey. I live hand to mouth, so Dumor it is.
