My parents love to drive by, roll down the window, slow way down and yell his name-- and of course he brays back--and you can hear him about 1/4 mile away!! CAMS? I did sub for Hamilton county--not familiar with that abbreviation? Bario: can't read the writing on the door of your avatar-- you slipped that change in --just noticed it.

Just did my first candle on Seramas eggs the other day. I had 19 that looked great! I am retrying them since I had a temperature spike in my incubator that killed off my last batch all but 1. It was only day 3 so I may see more tonight day 5. I was going to post on here right after I candled, but it took me 2 days to get through all the posts I missed!

I don't know where that are at but no where around that price around here.

I've got a quad that will be at TSC this weekend priced @ 125.00.
But I would take 100 for the four of them, 3 hens and 1 roo.
They are 18 months old, from Bev Davis line.

Yes, brood in the house... I don't know many who don't. A month is all you need in the spring.

That last line of yours cracked me up! Storey's guide to raising chickens and for real beginners "4H" guide to raising chickens. Start with 4H then go to Storey's. And I think it's Practical Poultry that does the highlight on a different disease every issue. You can't read enough... not one of us knows it all... which is why we are here in the first place.

Just bought Storey's guide on Saturday. I saw the 4-H book, bud didn't get it. I'll go back.

Ironic - I was going to post this and got on and saw your threads about what chicken people look like in public.

I consider myself a city girl. The only animal I have ever had is a Pitt Bull named Zeb that I've had for 8 years. March 2011 I married a Redneck. He raised hunting dogs. He doesn't kill, but he loves to hunt.

We bought two rabbit cages off craigslist very cheap in Dunlap, TN. My husband went and picked them up and brought them home. They were awful. He not only had not cleaned them in a long time, but it had been soooooo long that the drawers wouldn't even pull out. The stink was unbearable. We've let them sit outside by the back porch for almost two weeks. (the door we go in and out) The smell has gotten so rank that I decided I'd had enough. Today I pulled them babies out into the yard and got out the pressure washer. Within 3 seconds I reallized I had made a mistake. I was covered head to toe in poop. One of the coops must've had chickens in it. So poop in hair, on face, covered clothes, etc. (TURN AWAY IF YOU ARE SQEEEEMISH..........I THINK I EVEN GOT SOME IN MY MOUTH!!!!!!!!) Taking a deep breath........not going to get sick.............breate.

When I got done, I decided that today is the "Day I Became A Country Gal."

OK y'all. Here is the official answer to administering LT vaccine behind penicillin. This is after consultation with someone much more knowledgeable than I.

"The LT vaccine is administered through the nostrils or eyes. The vaccine contains penicillin or streptomycin as preservatives. How much, I don't know. I'd wait at least a week before administering the LT, but not wait any later than that. The LT vaccine is more effective on chicks than on growing (pullets)/older birds."
