If I hadn't used the pressure washer, I would've had to get a chisel. Don't think Tommy is going to allow me on craigslist for awhile. lol

My next purchase will be near the end of the year. Going to buy an incubator for our guineas. I think I'm going to take a swipe at trying to collect their eggs. They are only 3 months old now - trying to get their voice. I can hear at least one female. *crossing fingers. Next month we are going to let them out of their pen and see if we can get them to go back at night.

That was disgusting. I've showered twice, and I still smell it. blech.

Woohoo! What are you getting if it isn't a secret.
Olandsk Dwarfs.... to put under a broody... and get this: the broody is out and about today and gave up!!!! I SWEAR she has been sitting for 45 days or something crazy now... the day after I pay for eggs, she is up and out of the coop!!! Time to wash the dust off the incubator.

I'm not upset, but I was selling the idea of getting eggs as "It's for my broody!" and now I'll have to hear all about how I shouldn't have bought more chickens when my life is crazy right now. I think now I'll sell it as "therapy"

Just bought Storey's guide on Saturday. I saw the 4-H book, bud didn't get it. I'll go back.
I would send you my copy but I gave it away already to another new chicken keeper. My Storey's is at my mother's who is wanting chickens. So, as you can see, I really would have sent it to you if I had it!!

Ironic - I was going to post this and got on and saw your threads about what chicken people look like in public.

I consider myself a city girl. The only animal I have ever had is a Pitt Bull named Zeb that I've had for 8 years. March 2011 I married a Redneck. He raised hunting dogs. He doesn't kill, but he loves to hunt.

We bought two rabbit cages off craigslist very cheap in Dunlap, TN. My husband went and picked them up and brought them home. They were awful. He not only had not cleaned them in a long time, but it had been soooooo long that the drawers wouldn't even pull out. The stink was unbearable. We've let them sit outside by the back porch for almost two weeks. (the door we go in and out) The smell has gotten so rank that I decided I'd had enough. Today I pulled them babies out into the yard and got out the pressure washer. Within 3 seconds I reallized I had made a mistake. I was covered head to toe in poop. One of the coops must've had chickens in it. So poop in hair, on face, covered clothes, etc. (TURN AWAY IF YOU ARE SQEEEEMISH..........I THINK I EVEN GOT SOME IN MY MOUTH!!!!!!!!) Taking a deep breath........not going to get sick.............breate.

When I got done, I decided that today is the "Day I Became A Country Gal."

LOL!!! I hope you are up to date on your shots. And if you get worms... you can go to the ER or save the embarrasment and ivemectin yourself!! LOL!!

Funny you put that... I just was out "visiting" the birds and one of the wild cats I care for was in the run. No biggie usually but for some reason a production red pullet I have wouldn't leave her alone! LOL! I never seen anything like it. The cat would try to walk off and the chicken would run after it then bite it's rear. Then the cat would try a different fence post to get out of the run, the chicken would do it again. I don't know what their problem was. Usually my cats and chickens get along... but that one pullet doesn't seem to like cats. LMAO

What are these books you speak of? My son had a 4H book along time ago but I do not know the Storey one.
