Btw, I went to the animal swap at tsc in Morristown this past sat. I saw the biggest roo I think I have ever seen there. May have been a blue orp. Was a pair hen/roo in a pen . If I only had room.....lol

I am with tnchickenut: awww...but can't afford anymore. I am glad you posted them this way & not the fb death row inmates I get bombarded with every time I go on there. Good luck in finding them homes.

BTW this is how I ended up with my last cat: went into feed store, cage with kitten & said kitten now lives here! thankfully these are far enough away!
Okay, we couldn't help but laugh at the "death row inmates" comment.

Yeah Orps SHOULD be huge... these BRs I'm talking about aren't much smaller. Now, my hatchery BRs are tiny compared to them. ;) Just saying.

I'm thinking the first time to see how effective FF is, I should use the same type of chicks, the same age, feed one FF, feed the other the dry form of the same feed. Then decide which chicks we would rather use as broilers-I'm kinda thinking delwares? at least DH could process the roos, and renew the laying flock as needed?? Whatca think stanglover??
A lot of people I know feed fermented feed to their horses...it helps keep weight on and good conditioning. I don't know if the fermenting process would be the same as with chicken feed. Incidently I am having trouble getting more weight on some of my chickens. I don't know if it is due to so many of them molting.. They get plenty of feed but I noticed they are not eating as heartly as they usually do. Any recommendations on what I can add or other alternatives I can add to their diet?

Thanks. I am watching the Friday the 13th movie marathon. I am so glad we are not still in the 80's. I don't know about the rest of the women on here but big hair, shoulder pads & skin tight skinny jeans are not my thing anymore.

Also I would like to put some extra weight on a few of my chickens too.

I believe you saw Goliath and his mate. Goliath is very impressive and has filled out so nicely. I was tickled to get to see him. They belong to AJ aka Talbott Poultry on our forum here..The roo is a lavender Orp and the hen was blue. They bought them from me when I found I just did not like the big guys. Goliath was such a good boy and you should hear him crow! I was so happy they have a good home and within our little group. I was set up on the other end of the row.

Awww... NO! (LMAO!!)

Seriously, tugging at my heart strings but I have my own feral population I have been catching and "fixing" and feeding and taming and doctoring. If you got them fixed (say with PPAW) you would be able to find something for them. I adopted a few of mine out but I got them fixed first. $17 a kitten with their shots (including rabbies)
Oh that's not bad at all, I can give shots, but the surgery is usually around $100 even with coupons when I checked last with my vet. I would much rather have them fixed before they go somewhere, I have already caught 5 cats in my traps this year and I still have some stalking chickens, I can't catch them as fast as they reproduce here. Many are ferals, but some are peoples pets that live around here and the owners don't have enough common sense to get them fixed or keep them inside. Sadly when I was looking for more kittens where I found these I also came across a dead one
