Glad you found our thread! I see you say you raised Cornishx, yay!!! I have so many in the freezer could take a few to the next picnic!

Okay its the weekly update on the Orps. They are 7 weeks old. I did not get very good pics today. I moved them back down to the small coop so they could stay out of the rain. I am holding to my 3:1 ratio but who knows?

As always I added pics to their folder.

I have a chicken secret.

Its my only one so I don't know whether to keep it or not. I will say they did not come from around here and I am giddy with excitement.

Almost as excited as I was when I got chicks from tennesseckn.

I'm with you on the F2, F3 thing. I know that it means number of generations, but I don't know when you start counting. Are the parents the F1 or the first round of chicks?
Depends on what the breeder has done with the breeding stock you get from them. If they tell you the ones you are getting are F2...then the chicks you get from them will be F3s. Now...if you have started a project yourself the chicks from the first pair would be F1. If you have breeding stock from a pair that are not from the same family group then yours would be F1. I hope this made sense..I am kinda looking at it and saying. Huh?
I guess to put in simple terms.....if you buy breeding stock from a breeder ask which generation they are and go from there but if you are doing your own thing what you start with is considered F1.

@Bario...what can I say....when an opportunity opens itself like that I have to take it. It is always nice to have a "Posse".
