hi all, I have a question.. should you use a differant temp when hatching bantam eggs??

I have only hatched large fowl eggs, so I have no clue..I will be useing a still air incubator...

i never really did, or for that matter change temps at all come to think of it, course my bantams hatched day or so sooner, though hatched all types chickens, courturnix quail, hook bills, finches, ringneck doves, and pigeon eggs with high hatch rates.. humidity was sometimes adjusted though, from bantam to large foul eggs even.

No same temp, but be aware sometimes they hatch early.
My last batch (2 different breeds) started hatching on day 19.

It made the large ones jealous so they decided to start early also.

I use the same temps and I hatch both large and bantam. If I incubate at 100 they hatch in 19 days...if 99 they hatch at 20 and 21. 99 degrees is suppose to give you a higher rate of pullets and from my last 3 hatchings have found that to seemingly be true. A lot depends on your humidity too. I dry hatch using only what the humidity is in my house...around 25 until day 15 then add a bit of water bringing it up to around 35 then LD raising it to around 45-50.

@Everyone...I tried something that has really worked great in my incubator. I took the stuff you get to keep rugs from sliding or you can get it for shelves too and put in the bottom of my incubator for LD and hatching removing the horrible screen. I have had chicks that sometimes hatched a bit wet and scooting on the wire til they got their feet under them left their little bottoms raw. With the mats there is not chance of that. Just throwing that little hint out there.
