I have been gone for days (maybe a week, I don't know... time is relative) and I'm not even about to try to catch up. lol. I hope ya'll understand. If there was something important I may ask questions when it comes up again because I have no clue what you are talking about... lol

On that note; did I miss anything spectacular?

Got my eggs in the bator...I signed up but there was never a form to fill out...is there one that has to be done??
I set 15 paint and porcelain silkies and 5 from my own...GL everyone!!

And just hatched out a chick!! 3 more to go tomorrow...keeping fingers crossed..Only 3 out of 10 made it to LD. Hope they make it out of the shell.

You guys amaze me! I do well to take care of the ones I have let alone try hatching more. I am just hoping one of mine goes broody come spring so I can see some babies.

How old does a cockerel need to be to breed the hens? I have a young Orp I would like to use but don't know if he will be ready by spring. He's between 4 & 5 months old now. Thanks.
The ones from Daphne are about 3 weeks or so younger.

depends on the breed and the individual cockerel; but usually by 6 months he can easily fertilize and by 8 months mature enough to produce better fertility rates.
