New babies!!!! littlechicklet......it is so odd while we have been talking about the certainties of getting what we pay for. The black chick and the white (but looking silver) are from silkie eggs I bought....well....they are either bantam cochin or cochin....yes, I am upset.

But the light color really is looking silver..not really that much white. The one in the back is from my Birchen silkie roo...it is almost all red except for a few stripes on its head and a U on its back.

AND.....all 3 of my F2 polish pullets lay eggs for me today.... now I have something for the 2 silkies who went broody a couple days ago.

I am sorry you did not get what you paid for. Did they say there was a possibility that you wouldn't get Silkies? I would be upset and getting in touch with them ASAP.

They where suppose to be all silkies...in fact she had it written on the eggs. I think either she got the eggs mixed up with others or....she is crossing silkies with cochin. I originally bought 6 silkie eggs...they where not packed to well and 1 was infertile and 4 had detached air cells. so.....i contacted her and she said she usually does not replace eggs....but she did not want negative feedback. So..she agreed to replace 4 and I bought another 6. Well...3 made it to lockdown....1 of those quit during LD. I have contacted her so we will see what she does because I have not left feedback for the other 6 I bought. With the fact that she did not send what I paid for..she may replace them but I am not depending on it. I bought them just because she was getting unusual colorations out of hers. I hoped to have something to work with in my project. So...guess will see. I sent pics of the white skin..etc but could not get a good pic of their feet...will be sending pics of those tomorrow. But that is part of taking that chance. The light colored one really is beautiful!

@TNBarnQueen that light colored chick is just like my "splash" cochin chick. At least thats what I was supposed to have. I got a chick in those cochins that is black skinned and 5 toe'd. They were all marked cochin/frizzle. So either eggs were mixed up or a silkie got in the pen. It has no crest, so I am guessing mixed breed. So I suppose its a lesson learned for me too. Luckily these were just for me to have some broody hens down the road. Had it been either expensive eggs or a specific breed purchases...I would be more upset than I am. In your case....I would be pretty mad.

@littlechicklet gratz for the eggs she got. Hopefully, they will continue to lay for her.

I sent the seller a message and she replied back pretty quickly. She said that yes she does have cochins and thinks she may have gotten some of the eggs mixed up. So she is sending 6 more eggs to replace the ones I bought all at her cost. I think she was a bit embarrassed. So...it was a bad thing and lost time but she is making it right...I can give her that.

This little partridge silkie is a mess!! It marches around poking in to everything and does not keep still. I know it is going to have wonderful feathering because it is already so dense and long. It is so long on the neck it curls around to the sides. Everyone is eating now. One thing I have started doing for my hatchlings in starting them off on eating is sprinkling baby parrot food on the top of their crumbles. Even at this young age they go crazy over it!! It must have a really good taste because all my chicks have dug in hard when I put it out. Lunar...you probably know what is in it to intrigue them so much. I hope this chick is a splash..oh...and she also said that her cochins have the frizzle gene...that may explain your little chick that is looking frizzled Lunar. IDK..it may be a good mistake for me...I have seen frizzled cochins and they are very beautiful!
So....guess my incubator is not going to get as long a rest as I had planned now...when these eggs come that is going to put me past first week of Jan. Well...maybe I can shut down for at least a few weeks.

Oh....I got a huge surprise this morning...went into the polish hen house and there was 3 eggs in it!!

One has been laying everyday for about 2 weeks. She lays her egg in another nest away from these. So....all of my polish hens may be laying now!! Now if I could just get the OEs follow suit. 2 silkies went broody Wed and today. They get the polish eggs!
@Lunar....my little lav. D'Uccle is laying..you are welcome to the eggs. They are unrelated to the ones you already have. They should be lavender and splits.

Told ya so, told ya so.

I knew you would not be able to shut down.

That's what you get for trying to get people to gang up on me.

I hope you do know that I am just kidding.

How is everyone's NYD hatch going?

TNBarnQueen- congrats on the eggs; both from the seller & ones yours are laying!

My little white with black EE laid an egg today!

It was a blue/green color which is what I was hoping for. The dad carries the blue/green gene but the mom does not. Now if the other one lays a blue/green egg I will be doing back flips. I will try to post pics of her & the egg tomorrow. I also need to update pics of Daphne's Orps. I think I got a little discouraged when I lost the pullet & the rest are boys. Oh well they will work well with my others.

If you have an extra roo in Daphne's Orps, I would be interested if it is Black.

ETA: How old are they?

They are 14 weeks old and I have 2 blue and 1 black. I have not decided which one/ones I am going to keep yet. I want to let them mature out some more before deciding. I will let you know once I decide but I can't keep them all. BTW the black one used to be my pet. He would jump up and sit on my leg/lap. He is going through the "I am terrified of you but I want to get close stage" right now. He is very sweet and curious. So I guess what I am saying is he's my favorite as far as personality goes.
