TNBarnQueen do you have adult Showgirls? Do you show? I would love for someone in this area to show thier Showgirls. I have a pair right now but I never have competition at the shows with them. I would love to see pics.

Hey there, I'm in East Tennessee as well!

I will have some point of lay OE/cochin pullets for sale soon. All sorts of colors....blue, splash, black and a blue wheaten sort of color. All feather legged. Moms were olive eggers, dad was a blue cochin. All large fowl.

They are 3-4 months old now....not near laying yet. But starting to look for good "homes" now.

They hatched out of olive eggs like the one on the upper left.

Here are a few of the teenagers a couple weeks ago.

ooooohhhh! such pretty egg assortment. me want space to have coop to go out and gather eggs like that.

on a differant note:...
I borrowed a show rosecomb rooster (as it matured, since saw it, its black with white speckling to slash, has turned to brown and white, and not sure what pattern is called), from neighbors who was watching it, or given it to keep at their place or something, but with the current owner's luck it might not be around to long (aside from their dogs, there are alot of others, and every predator imaginable around there), so im going to try to get it to fertilize my whatever the bantam hen is i have. she is all black with thick dark red fleshy face, mean as heck to other black animals at very least it seems. green sheen with iridescent purple feathers, small white earlobes with same green and purple, black legs i think, and crows occasionally, but doesnt have hint of spurs even like her sisters who just seem to have caught up to her in size mostly, and she is a bit bigger slightly at least than this rosecomb but he seems bigger and differant than one at auction i saw. what off spring would you all think id get? i know nothing of chicken genetics, so will have more father traits or mother (thought of trying to breed her to neighbor's game rooster he wanted, but the babies might be pure hellions then!)?

forgot to mention that the hen was thought was good to go to mate, as broody and offering herself constantly to me, and also she has been going increasingly broody and nesting, plucking her chest feathers, and setting her poop, and other odd things like stones (though suddenly doesnt like the nest box i have in by her and nests in the same nest spot in newspaper on metal cage floor, rather than straw in fridge drawer). also the odd crowing in morn at times... still not a rooster definitely, but wondering why broody and not laying yet, as spacing is about twice as far apart as two sisters. do bantams lay better or just only with mate/ing, unlike bred for egg production ones?

What a great rainy day. After all the warnings they had last night bout real bad weather, we are getting a nice soaking rain. I can live with this.

Well, we had a great day yesterday. After meeting with TnBarn Queen ( thanks again for willow) we came home to neibor turning our garden with his tractor. He will be a big help this year since hubby is driving and I will not sit on our mower to do anything. Our property slopes and it scares me on lawn tractor. On Monday he is going to help us take the mower to john Deer dealer and get new tires and a spring fixed. Sometimes one just gets lucky with good neibors.

On another great note hubby moved half his tools out of the house into his new shed.

You have no idea what a big thing that is for me. No more tripping over them. Now if one of the hens would go broody and stick with it I would be perfect.
