Hello Mayapple... glad you found us. It's the only thread I'm really active in (awww ya'll are special lol)

Well, the Jefferson County Fair would have been too far for me anyhow.

OH~~~ Just decided... selling a pair of bantam white wyandottes. Still young at 2 months or so old.

I've shown horses, n dogs. I don't know why I never thought of a chicken show

When I was growing up in Silver Spring Maryland... we'd go to the Montgomery County Fair... there was always half of the fair for 4H and I loved the chickens and goats more than anything. Never cared for the rides or games at all. I would go running to he chickens. I guess it was meant to be.

So yeah, I always thought of showing chickens. lol Funny thing is I don't care too much about being the one showing them. I like breeding more.

Today was awesome!
I took 15 birds to show, 1 silkie and 14 d'Uccles in various colors.

The silkie got 2nd place, beaten by a Jack Ferguson silkie which isn't too shabby

One of my mille fleur cocerals took Best of Breed and Best of Variety.
A black pullet took Reserve of Breed and best of her Variety.

I have 7 1st place ribbons, 5 2nd place ribbons, 3 3rd place ribbons. 4 total Best of variety and 3 Reserve of Variety.

I am a very tired but happy show person today!!!

I'm learning how facinating chickens really are, and so beautiful. Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, my thoughts of chickens were Foghorn-Leghorn, and a few running around the yard @ my grandma's house in VA. I had no idea of the different breeds and looks. Its so much fun to learn about it.
