Thank you so much for your concern. Well I guess she's coming home tomorrow, but its not good. Her ultrsound showed a small, whitish liver and the vessels coming to and going away from her liver are hardly seen. Diagnosis is hepatitis, her prognosis is poor, and they are going to start her on steroids. She's still on IV fluids, antibiotics, and is barely eating. Its sadly only a matter of time. Id love another year with my darling Brea, but I know, unless we have a miracle, it can't happen. Its heartbreaking
.
I'm so very sorry. How could she have contracted it? I've never heard of hep in dogs before. Just keep her as comfortable as you can, I know its very hard, been down this awful road twice in the past 6 years. Love her and let her know she is loved. My thoughts are with you >hugs<
I really don't know, we have always tried to given her the best of care. The vet said its possible to b cancer also, but her liver is in such bad shape, they won't do a biopsy and she would need to go to a animal med center. I really can't see doing that, bc I know there really is no hope for her. We will care for her as well as we possibly can. This is the only really downside of having pets. They become family, loved and cared for as you would with any child. But the way I look @ it, if your not willing to bring them into your family, to love and pamper them as much as any family member, then why bother. We love her very much, and she loves us just as much, and we feel so fortunate to have 7 wonderful, happy yrs with our precious girl. Thank you for these lovely posts, they are very meaningful to me and am sending you guys the biggest hug ever! <3
