Living on a hill is glorious, except in winter when its icy and you slide backwards down the road 100 feet

I left my 2 cochin coops locked up today. Neither pen is in danger of flooding but there is no reason for them to be out in the weather if they dont have to be. Let the big coop out and everyone was SOAKED, but fine and dandy. Only one corner of my yard ever has any standing water and it wont get more than an inch or two deep before it runs off down to the lower area. Everything else is on a major hill, so my neighbors would be completely underwater up to the top of their roof before I had any issues.

That's about right but you left out all those curves road so curvy looks like they laid a snake down made the road behind it.

We are floating away! Had to move the 1 month old brown leghorns to the back porch. I'm sure it will be a mess. But didn't want them to drown. The other chickens seem to love the rain. I know our grass needed it. But I'm already sick of it. Was supposed to go to Hooray for Harriman yesterday. They canceled the vendors. I was so upset. I have sewed like crazy for 3 weeks! Really wanted to sell some stuff. My friend had hand painted quilt squares for barns. I bought one off her for my chicken coop its awesome.

well I really hope everyone is doing well with all this rain. I just worry about my chickens. LOL who would have thought I would fall in love with my chickens so much!

Where in the world did the phrase "madder than a wet hen" come from?? Mine love it and absolutely will not go back in while it is raining. My naughty sussix girl taught half the clan how to fly over the inside wall of the coop (open where rafters are) to escape out the front door. I swear they are frolicking in the rain and laughing at me.

My birds do enjoy being out and about no matter what the weather, but are always happy to go back in at night.

Now, stick a hen in a bucket of water and you will understand the phrase
