I might have an extra SLW roo. Stanglover has first dibs, but if she decides not to take one I would love for you to take him, or are you just looking for GLW? They came from Paul's Poultry. I also have a BLRW boy they sent me as a free extra and a single comb SLW. The BLRW is smallish compared to the others. What, exactly, am I supposed to do with those?

Where is the show you are going to?? Am wondering if I can get a friend of mine to do a road trip..she needs it!!!

Well.....seems I have a guest at my house. For 3 days a hawk has sit for several hours each day right on the electric wire above my mail box. I went to him yesterday and explained that I was sorry but he was not allowed to have any of my chickens...or cats and that I must ask him to look elsewhere for meals. He is a youngster and seemed to listen closely to what I had to say. He sat and looked at me for a few minutes then I walked back to the house. He was actually gone an hour later and did not return today. Maybe it was the mean look I gave him.

We have 2 pairs that have been around our home for 4 or 5 years....so I am use to seeing them but not this close to my babies!
Just to be safe I have put shade cloth on the top of my juvenile pen. If my little D'Uccle roo, JoJo who feels he does own the world and is chicken king

doesn't keep flying out over the door he is going to be taking an unexpected ride with serious after effects! I have trimmed his wings as much as I dare to and he still can fly!

Buggers!

I may regret this but just got 16 red broilers the ones that take 12 weeks to grow out to get through the winter.

IF all goes we'll get some good meat got good layers when they all get to laying not all of them are laying yet .

I am hoping by next fall we will be able to just process what hatches in the spring.

Well, I do hope the best for you! I once got red broilers and tried raising them through the winter... let's just say NEVER AGAIN! The feed to meat conversion was awful!!! Because instead of getting fat they were burning calories staying warm...

I hated it... Ended up keeping them until like 20-24 weeks and still only got like 3-4 lbs

I wasn't set up for it in the spring to try it. We just started in the spring with chickens to begin with . Decided to try to get some in for freezer for winter. So this is proably a better spring project ? Well I will continue to hope anyway

Did you try any after that with better results ?
