No, they are actually all EE/Cochin crosses. They all had a cochin dad and an ee mom.....therefore there is 50/50 chance or green or brown. I wouldnt be surprised if the bearded black lays green though.

She looks like a BR... Doms have a smaller body build and don't have the straight comb. Also they are not truely "Barred" they are "cuckoo" which is a really messy barring... almost like fuzzy channel on the TV (if you are old enough to remember those zig zag lines.) With BRs barring... it comes down to quality of the bird/line. they SHOULD be clean even white and even black lines, but hatchery stock usually has a bit of wave to it and often the females will have heavy black barring.

In the end, does it matter what she is?! LOL! She lays, right? And you love her, right? Sounds like a perfect bird to me!!!

LOL I love them all..ok so diddle is a Barred rock.....I bought frank thinking he was a leghorn Hen. So if not a leg horn than what? lol Im still learning

thanks for letting me know the difference. Diddle was hatched in a class room. Neighbors kids teach hatched some in class. Their mom ask me to take it. Since she knew we were building a coop. That way her kids could see diddle everyday.

Do barred rock and domers look that same a chicks?

Frank looks like a white plymouth rock..... and yes, they pretty much look the same as chicks. Anything barred or cuckoo will be black or grey with white on the head and chest like that.

If Frank was a leghorn... he would be much skinnier and his comb and wattle would be much bigger. Sometimes identifying breeds is hard, but feathersite.com has helped me when I wasn't sure.

She's laying? Yeah!

Now if Nella's SS would start laying... they're the same age.

I am egg deprived right now!!!! My girls are all molting so I'm down to two eggs a day from 11 hens that are old enough to lay.

They look pitiful. They actually look worse now that the new feathers are growing back in. Before they just looked un-fluffy. Now they look like victims of a bad haircut with their feathers all different lengths and poking out everywhere.

I'm getting 1 to 2 eggs every day or two. Its just sad....I have a good dozen hens of laying age who are molting.....plus 4 near POL and 2 a little younger.

I do expect the leghorn/cochins to lay through winter if they start up soon.....if.....
