Well...I don't feel so bad now. I have 16 layers and 8 POL and I may get 4 eggs a day. Selling eggs to eat is what buys their feed...so I told them it is either eggs = food. No eggs = what ever you can find foraging! I can say one thing though....my black stars are super layers! Even through their molt they kept laying everyday. Boy I hope I did not just jynx them

The 2 English I got from you are finally growing again. I want to get them in with the Lavenders but those are so big I want them to grow a bit first.

I'm surprised they've not caught up yet. They will, though. Just need a little more time. Did you get girls, boys, or one of each?

Diddle looks like a barred rock, since it has a single comb... dominiques have rose combs....

I said the same thing to myself! Diddle is absolutely a rock!

Hows everyone doing? Enjoying the cooler weather here, the birdies are too! Been having issues with my dogs and the birds relationship as of late. The dogs want to chase and the birds want to escape. I lost the mill fleur "Baby Elvis" to them last week, and i lost my alpha roo >barred rock< Hank to something i'm not sure of. His comb turned an odd color of beet purpleish red and he was just not improving but getting weak so I had my hubby put him out of his mysery. The dogs are no longer allowed out of the fenced yard unless i'm out there with them. I don't know what sparked this sudden intrest, but it's not going to be tolerated.

Purple comb is a circulatory / respiratory issue, isn't it?

My dog's only eleven pounds and I still have to keep him away from the chicken. Mainly for his own protection. I had a mean SLW rooster that would chase him down and yank the fur off his tail.

My big problem is the cat that came to live here. It showed up pregnant with a double eye infection. Now that it's all healthy it's decided to start chasing the chickens for fun. I don't think she could hurt them because they're a lot bigger than she is, but I hate that she's stressing them all the time. Anyone want a cat? or a kitten?

I hope you got said cat fixed now!! My chickens dont chase back..its odd but they are really good at running for their lives! My bostons team up with my moms jack russel so its just easier to keep them in the fence. I might be able to be talked into a kitten tho, you'll have to do some heavy convincing

They're both girls. The one on the left is a lot darker orange now and the one on the right has long hair. They're up to date on their shots and their mom tested negative for leukemia.

They're all weaned and ready to go.

Hi everyone it has been awile since I posted last. Welcome to our new chickies. Not much happening here with flock. The new babies are growing larger than parents. That is good and they look great too. I have few extra cockerals if anyone wants a real pretty male that will be large sized, I will give them away to those here. I will also deliver them to you.

We had a few hawks fly in but no kills yet. Dog is on top of it. She loves this cool weather I have a hard time getting her in.

Last week I had to get a new comp. Broke me old one part me fault part a virus. So hubby let me get a new one and it is a laptop. Dang thing cost more than my desk comp and just as powerful quad core both of them. Now I need to get other fixed. But it cn wait till we get other things done. Still getting used to everything on it never had a laptop before.

Question about Nov show. Will this be a bantam mostly show too or not? Will it be larger than Spring?
