I have a dead animal phobia. Don't even start with me lol.

I had a freak thing happenn......brought a trio of bantam cochins to sell and when I got to the show, 1 was dead in the cage. What the heck.....Lori had to take it out and put it in a box for me.

I can't deal with dead animals. Yuck. Even dead mice. Gross.

I am, apparently, Nella's dead animal handler when her dad isn't around

The pay-off is that she's my live animal transport from time to time

(emphasis on the live part though...)

When I decided to process mine I found an excellent video on YouTube. It was VERY informative and very well done. They went from start to finish in great detail. It was a huge help to me. I had to watch it 4 or 5 times and take notes. Believe me Daphne...once you cut the first one..work on making sure your table is ready (keeps your mind occupied) while it bleeds out which only takes a few minutes. Put it on your work table and put the next one in the killing cone, cut it and go work on the first one. You are concentrating some much on processing that you don't think about the first steps on doing this. So...you can do it. I really doubted I could but...it truly is not as bad as you think.

Daphne, just take a good sharp knife to it's throat and breathe. Imagine the chickens in the processing plants going through the scalder alive because they missed the blades on the conveyor belt. Say, "Thank you for what you give" and run the knife firmly from left to right. Because if you don't, you'll be eatting the chicken that was abused from birth to death on a factory farm.

You can do it!!

Edited to fix spelling error

Ya know... that is a really great motivator.

I actually called Wisner Farms this morning and they are having cull day this Sunday. Six days to get my nerve up...

I'll have to find my happy place between now and then. I might have to borrow Bairo's D'Uccles and Lion Heads.

Nella, I am with you on the dead mouse thing. The only times I ever really play the girl-card is when it comes to emptying mousetraps or loading material at Lowe's or Home Depot.

I am that idiot who watches a movie where 430 humans die horrific deaths and I am fine, but if a dog gets its feeling hurt I start sniveling... My poor son is the same way. Old Yeller just about did him in.
