Yea... Ive definitely hinted at that and of course I would have done it already also. But when I realized she was so distraught and had the roo isolated in the house with her lol. I did not have the heart to push her really hard. I would not let him suffer.....but what do you do? I dont want to spoil her on chickens either. Of course if she takes this that hard....then maybe chickens are not for her anyway.

Yes...both Pyrenees and Anatolians are wonderful for livestock...I have had both. They are a great breed. They look beautiful..hmm...wondenrful if I could get DH to soften up to them. They look to be the right age for training too.

OK Bario....here are the results.

So..it was just an itty bitty egg. Surprisingly it was pretty much to scale in size. This was from my LAv. orpington that I lost last week.

Awwww... How cute! I was betting on it being all yolk.

Did you loose your lav girl to a predator? You probably told us but I've slept since then. If it was natural causes, do you think it had anything to do with her egg laying?

I got all of my orps wormed. I didn't see any worms in the Wyandotte pen. Did they show up for you then next day?

I'm glad I did it. My young girls were SKINNY! I don't know if it's because they are still filling out or because of worms, but I'm glad I took the cautious route. I doubt I'll redose since I just used the Wazine a little while ago. I don't want to pickle them.

I think I might have wormed myself, too. I kept the plunger part of the syringe in my mouth while I was choosing my next victim and when I was returning them to the roost. By the time I was done I had a distinct medicine taste in my mouth.

The good news is that my math worked out fine. I counted chickens and it equaled the number of mL I used, so unless someone got wormed more that once and a different one got overlooked, everyone is good to go.

Now I just need the Ameraucanas and Banties...

You're not the bad guy. You are the voice of reason. We need people like you!!! I'll bet her biggest fear is putting him down and then finding out later that there was some simple fix. Letting her know what you would do a whole lot to reassure her.

I have not really decided what happened. I went out to feed and she was on the nest but jumped down to eat. I noticed she kept acting like she was swallowing hard. First thing I thought was gap worm but I had just wormed her and they have not been out. Then I thought food impacting...but she was drinking water and eating. I really hated losing her...if the weather had not been so nasty I would have done an autopsy on her. So far everyone else is fine.

Hey everyone... just checking in...

I'm about to list a pair of Barred Rocks... the rooster is a favorite of mine and I do not want him eatten... good home only. Sometimes you just get too attached.

Tennessee... adopting a dog is always good, but with LGDs you have to be very careful. If the parent stock was raised as pets, you might have trouble. Also keep in mind that shelters very often get breeds wrong. (Don't even get me started on that one) I didn't click the link, but personally... if I'm putting a dog out with my birds, I'm making sure it was properly trained as a LGD. I have heard many (and seen a few) purebred GP chase and kill chickens because they weren't trained. People think their automaticly going to guard the birds... they need training like anything else. So I'm not saying don't... but just be aware. He/she might be there because he wasn't preforming well as a LGD.

So anywho.... I just wanted to stop in and say hi. The holidays are busy, so maybe soon enough I'll be able to get on here more.
