I can't have a dog, much less one the size of a horse. Please don't post any more pictures. Although, as I looked at the little cuties I thought, "Even if I had the $100 I'd buy another Brinsea instead." So I guess I can resist puppies & bunnies! Yay me!!

I don't vaccinate for anything. If a sparrow can wipe out the whole flock than why are we trying to raise heritage birds? I want my birds to be able to resist Mareks and anything else they're exposed to. Good feed, no overcrowding, clean coop, fresh water, and a draft-free place to get out of inclement weather should maintain a healthy flock.

Lately I've been guilty of slight overcrowding though

And I threw my back out, so I'm not sure I can get to the Show to sell some

This does make a lot of sense Lori....when I first started back into chickens I had a terrible problem with Cocci. A woman here was so nice and very versed in these kinds of problems and what she suggested was of course giving them, ahhhhh. darn..can't remember the name of it!! But anyway...the most important thing she told me was to pull up grass and give to my chicks starting from the day they are hatched. Cocci is all around us and by my chicks being in such a sterile environment not being exposed to it...they had not immunity to it. Since then...knock on wood...I have not had a problem with it since. I even put sticks I pick up and put in with them. She said that an old farmer told her to put sticks in with a hen that has chicks...let them poop on it and what ever...then use this to put in with new chicks. But...the grass thing works fine.

What is the deal with the meat men?? They are showing up...well..where showing up here. When I opened the door I told the guy I was not interested...he just kept going into detail about the meat...I then cocked my head as though listening. Looked at him with "cow eyes" and told him...uhh...you may want to get to your truck...I have a very large guard dog and I think he is heading around the house. The guys shirt tail did not touch his butt til he was in his truck and getting out of the driveway.

Yeah....I know it was a little mean...but he has not been back!

Cat people are probably going to laugh at me here, but part bengal? As in tiger? A real one, like, from the jungle?

There is a breed of domestic cat that is called bengal...I have always wanted one. They are very beautiful.

They have a lot of the same markings as the big cats. Only a very small select few domestic cats can breed genetically to wild cats.
Now...are they not beautiful??!!

edge of city limits in Newport. Actually did not let him out on purpose that day. I was down at the shed and he went over to visit neighbors dog. When I went up to the guys, I just warned them that he had gotten away from me and he was really protective on the property. No sooner did I get it out he saw them. Thank goodness he was a 1000 feet away. Gave them time to haul butt to their truck. I could have stopped him if I thought they were not going to get in there truck for safety of course...but it was a good laugh none the less.

my dh doesn't want cats inside, otherwise I'd get the one on CL... Ladyride, I did a lot of research on the breed (because I wanted one and wanted to see how the personality would be), this one is mixed and I've read that bengals are very loving and like to be included as family... Maybe if you do decide to get it and it doesn't work out, you're more than welcome to 'leave it on my porch' lol

well I tried, I enjoy cats a lot... I used to have 6 and all mine my mom fell in love with when I had to move back in, 2 died of a disease sadly, 1 ran away, and she still has the other 3. I have a calico, but she's not much of a stay at home cat... but bengals have some of the prettiest coats!

Uh oh Stanglover...you are resorting to my tactics!!! You would not believe how many cats just showed up at my house. LOL:gig I do however think DH caught on a couple cats back.

I have always wanted one too...but they are pricey! My son has one that would almost pass for one if her background coat was just a little lighter. Guess i will just keep hoping one will fall in my lap one day.

OH...what am I thinking...Ladyrider....a friend of mine has a cat due to have kittens pretty soon...they are barn cats but she brings them to the house the first couple weeks then back to the barn. I can let you know when they are here if you like or anyone else looking. She takes very good care of her cats. I know in the last litter this cat had one looked so much like a flame point himilayian. She may even had some juveniles..will call her over the weekend and find out.
