Hey folks! I'm looking for an outdoor home for my two 6-month old neutered male cats - being indoors is driving them crazy and I don't have the property to let them outside.

Microchipped but not registered, so all you have to do is fill out the website. Rabies shots good through October and I will include all vet paperwork. Contribution would be appreciated but not requested or required, just a good home with lots of space to roam and someone to give them scratches every now and then. I would definitely be interested in trading for chickens.

They're brothers and have never been separated, so I do ask that you take them both.

Anyone in the upstate, W-NC, E-TN or NE-GA is welcome to them - just shoot me a PM and we will work it out (I do not get on here often enough to keep up with conversations).

It says they'll have them February 2nd. I just don't think I'll be ready then. I'm going to set my first eggs of the season at the beginning of February so I won't have to set up the brooder til closer to the end of the month. I'm also waiting to see what kind of grow out pen I can come up with.

If you buy 50 chicks from the freedom ranger hatchery it costs 102.50 after the $25 shipping, Welp is 106 for 50 because they don't have a seperate shipping charge. But for 25 chicks Welp is cheaper it's only 59.75 whereas freedom rangers will be 68.75 after 15 in shipping. It's ok, I may buy them myself in March so I can get half Cornish and half red rangers...

Go with red bulb......and drop the light closer to the ground so you can go to a 250 watt or less. The other hens will not be bothered by red as much and when it is close to ground it wont throw as much light out over by them.

You can make a "snuggly pipe"

too.
2-3 foot section of 3-4" PVC, 2 caps. shove a small strand of Christmas lights in the pipe and cap the ends (drill one for cord to come thru) Lay pipe on ground and chicks will snuggle up to it. Will stay about 85 degrees with lights plugged in. PVC wont be affected until at least 150 degrees....so your safe.

I really like the idea of the snuggly pipe. Will try that one for sure. Thanks Bario!

Yeah, 100 chicks makes a huge difference, like a 20 or 30 dollar difference with Freedom being cheaper... I was looking at getting in March, but may wait til April since there is 3 bunny shows I'd rather attend and would have to have someone else care for them while gone, which isn't a big deal... since they're family, but prefer not to.. lol April sound good? I'm only wanting 15-25 of them, I have nowhere to put them as of right now... the cornish are much easier because no need for a coop to put them up at night...
I hate I can't type the code for a smiley anymore, have to use the list... dang... but I have brooders til they're big enough, that I do have, and April should be warm enough that could put them out at like 6 weeks... Just let me know when you think, then we can decide on when to order and who to order them (depending on who all wants them could centralize) I know I have a HUGE brooder to put babies in for a day or so, acctually 2 brooders because I have a horse trough...

So, East TNers who all wants meaties around April, and how many?

I work with a guy that wants some. I think he wants 25 but I'll check with him tomorrow to be sure. I was thinking of doing 25, too. We could get to 100 pretty quick!

Why don't the cornish have to be put up at night? Do they roost up high or something?

ETA: Oh, I have a triple level brooder, so I would have room to keep them short-term, too.

grawg..she is absolutely great looking anyway. She wears that dark color well. I'll find that list, I hd some dates from last year due to sites not updating their stuff.

I Am due to speak with Rep from Blue Seal tomorrow finally. After some negativity I decided to call back and ask why they were not interested in drop shipping me nearly a ton a month...basically forming a buyers club or co-op just for us. If anyone that is interested in Blue Seal feeds at all (chickens, rabbits, dogs, horses) please try and get me a realistic list of what you would need per month. It's much simpler and cheaper to have a drop shipment only once a month. I'll say again....please be realistic and be prepared to be committed to come pick it up in Newport once per month. Since this is more like a buyers club, I wont be making a penny and cant afford to deliver. You will basically be paying wholesale.

They can't roost, they get too large and can harm themselves trying to roost (broken legs or wings) I raise them strictly in tarp covered tractors, I've not ever been brave enough to let them free range since they're slow, lazy and stupid.. but move them every day, I try to keep less than 25 because they make a huge mess fast... but the minimum is 25. I may not do them til after the Freedom Rangers... I havn't had time to process anything, or had the will to. The freedom rangers would probably have to be raised in tractor as well, unless I'm home to watch for hawks since they'll be ranging at an age when they'd be easy pickins for predators.
