Ok Nella, I have to stay competitive... so how's this for cute?

Gonna have 4 for sale in 3 weeks, 1 REW buck, 1 REW doe, 1 chestnut buck, and 1 chestnut doe. The rest I'm keeping for another month to see who fills out the best.

I'm just doing a quick check in!!! I hope all is well with everyone. The kids and i have been sick for the better part of 2 months with bronchitis, colds, and the flu. Hopefully its all over now. I've got super broody hen who i thought had been carted off by a preditor but then found her 2 weeks later taking up residence in one of the rabbit hutches, and i have 2 who are thinking about being broody. We'll see what becomes of all this hormonal hoopla!!!

I failed at the Kingsport swap too. Got there late unfortunately. I think I was pretty darn good, I bought only one young blue laced Araucana hen because she was too pretty and nice to pass up. I'm such a sucker. No one had a single turken though. *sadface*

It was a really big turn out--the nice woman who ran it from Copper Creek Farms said there were people sold out by 8:30 or so from early birds.

I'll bring a side dish and a desert! I'm not a vegetarian, but if someone is let me know, I have some good recipes!

Bunny People- We are just wanting meat types, nothing fancy and mixed is fine. Price ranger $20 and under and we have no rabbits currently, minus two pets, so we are looking for both bucks and does.

Wow had a lot of reading for only being "gone" for two days. So I went do to the banty show in Dalton, great show btw, and one of the vendors had dutch rabbits for sale. My 9 yo is convinced he wants rabbits now.
So my question to the rabbit people is, whats the easiest friendly rabbit to start out with? I had a bad experience with a gerbil growing up and have never trusted rodents since...

@laughingdog If anyone is asking for your info or for you to click on a link and it seems suspicious, don't do it. Easier to delete the message and if they are legit they will ask again.

ok, so finally got some information on the mixed french/cali litter, there are 8 babies - 2 black, 2 chestnut, 4 chinchillas. He wants $10 each. If color is no issue and you just want a certain sex let me know, he hasn't sexed them yet but they'll be weaned soon.

We got to the Kingsport swap around 10:00. There was still quite a bit there, but I did see alot of empty cages. I had to work Saturday night, or we would have set up to sale. We did end up buying 5 buff orpington pullets about a month old. They filled out the brooder nicely with our barred rock month old chicks.

grawg - to be honest, every breeder is gonna tell you which ones are the friendliest or the easiest going, but the truth is all rabbits are not the same! you should probably tag along to one of the shows and ask to handle some of the different breeds and choose what you find to be the best for your son, let him choose what he thinks he can handle! Some kids enjoy the challenge of larger breeds and some prefer the smaller easier to pick up breeds.

Gah had to do a reinstall of windows, but I'm back online now.
Went to the Kingsport swap with a friend and almost got a pair of silver sebrights and wanted to just stick this sweet little black oeg bantam roo on my shoulder and take him with me, but resisted and only came home with apple butter. I believe there is hope lol
Without a PC I got so much stuff done, my silkies got to free range today under supervision while I improved the older coop. Added a ladder to the upper part, build a bigger easy access door on one side and fixed the roof that had been battered in these last few storms. I figured they would be excited to get into their renovated home, but no, the 3 young ones won't leave the foyer and go in the main room and Rupert is sitting on the roof.

Yep, every breed is different. I have some really sweet lionheads and some really sweet dwarfs. I also have some REALLY REALLY REALLY MEAN lionheads. Have I emphasized the mean part enough? LOL

But people will usually tell you the temperament on any you are interested in. Seems like holland lops are some of the nice ones most often.
