I find bucks are better pets but if you want to make house bunnies out of them, get them neutered.

With does, it depends. I have one in the house right now. Cute sweet little thing. Had a bad eye infection and has a cloudy eye. I've had her inside since she was 4 weeks old. Bunnies just aren't usually big on cuddling. But they like hopping around and coming up to visit. She would make someone a great little pet. She has some great genetics but some big ol ears. I really need to pet her out, but would be picky on who she went to as I got a bit attached treating her eye twice a day forever. But I don't need a pet.

And seriously, you all have no idea about mean bunnies. I have a doe who will charge the front of the cage....just reaching in to get her dish I got bitten by her. She charges with ears pinned, growling. Mean heifer. When she had babies, I had to wean them early as she would get so angry when she saw me that she would run full speed around her cage, barrelling over her babies in the process. Just a temperamental thing.

Her name is Little Heifer. her kids are quite nice. Actually the half blind house bunny is her daughter. Great temperament on her. Little heifer wasn't mean when she was young, but was never this nice. I don't mind ear pinning, but they can't follow through. Lunging at me when I open the door is a bit unacceptable.

Wow Nella, that story really isn't doing much to convince me about bunnies.

I suppose I'll have to go to some rabbit shows then... I imagine the boys would like one of those.

I think a lot of bunnies just have different personalities. I have a "dwarf" I adopted from Knoxville animal shelter about 6 years ago that was a hurricane Katrina bunny. I felt sorry for him and grabbed him up (he had been neutered by the YW center) He's huge. He's not "snugglable" but not mean to people *shrug* he is what he is.

I thought getting him a bunny friend would make him happy. I got a female lion head dwarf mix from a friend who just had babies. BAD....IDEA. No matter how hard I tried or wanted or anything---he would not tolerate her. So, now I have a very wonderful sweet bunny and a grouchy bunny. LOL! I've actually been trying to find a good home for the girl for awhile, if anyone is interested. I wouldn't recommend for breeding as I don't know what she truly is, but she would make a WONDERFUL pet. She is very active, litter trained, and loves to play with her toys. Also she has a fluffy mohawk. Just throwing that out there.

Now to whine......
I bought a wyandotte hen yesterday. She's def. a hen. Stupid thing has been making loud, obnoxious crowing noises all day, it's driving me crazy!! Gonna trade her back next weekend....the question is will I survive that long?

Woke up this morning to a newborn guinea pig, and a bit of a protective mommy pig. Very cute baby though, chocolate, red, and just alittle white.

Speaking of newborns... I have little kittens I will be taking over milking in about a week. They are a week old now and before the mother makes them wild, I'll take them over. But for now, they need her milk.

Soooooooo... free kittens to good homes! From what I can tell when they were day olds, they are mostly boys. One I will be keeping is a female (and yes, I'll be fixing her). Their mother is my head mouser in the coops... just a stray who stayed. Their father is most likely the stray I call "Tyson" - he is 100% muscle and a guard cat. So, these have the genetics to be wonderful farm cats. Like I mentioned... I will be taming them.

hope everyone is doing well... sorry I don't keep up with BYC much anymore. By the time I answer all my messages on fb, my emails, ebay, ect... I'm ready to close the laptop and relax!
