Building cages for Saturday. Stupid J clip pliers pooped out on me after 10 minutes.

Good thing I have some needle nose pliers. I think I built these cages too big LOL! I could probably fit a Turkey in these holes. Oh well. I couldn't find any plans on these so I just started building. At least these will have cages!!!

xChickiex I'm so sorry about your grandmother passing, my condolences.
The J-clip tool TSC has is crap! I got some in Morristown and the J-clips they are selling does not even fit the tool. I have a tool that a friend gave me that is around 40 years old.. It is heavy but makes the work quick. I love making cages but it kills my hands!!

I need one of those old tools. I'm returning this one, it's stupid.

I actually finally sold some chickens at Kingsport today, but I had to wait till almost everyone had left. Somehow I ended up with 2 new hens and a bunch of Black JG chicks... go figure.

Well...I finally heard from the lady who does the farm sale at TSC in Kingsport. I was so upset. She asked what I was bringing and when I told her chickens she told me 28 people where already bringing chickens and I may be disappointed if I came since it was an hour drive.I kinda felt like she wanted to discourage me. But...how would be know the others was bringing the breeds I had. So...I went to the local flea market and got rid of most of the ones that did not make the cut for SQ breeding stock. Maybe I will try Kingsport another time. Looking forward to Newport. I have porcilean D'Uccles hatching right now!!!'

@Chiggerbait...At every meal all I think about was your smoked turkey!! I even woke up this morning and would have given my eye teeth for some. I think I may have to talk to you about selling me one for Thanksgiving...if I make it that long. May have to have a "turkey fix" before then! PM me and let me know what I would need to do and how much.

Well...here is a little something one of my marans left for me...at least it is pretty.

The one i got from TSC has lasted me through many many cages......I think. I think thats where I got it. I have 2 now. You can actually buy heavy duty ones through rabbit supply companies online. They are less than $20...some day I may get one of those instead LOL

I love mine and you can use any size clip in it. Nella...are you allowed to bring poultry to the Knoxville show to sale. Seems i read a post that you can't but then I have read about several shows and may have another confused with it. If I don't sell I am still coming...considering showing a couple of my chickens. I would love to show my Polish roo just to see what the judges think but he is a bit spastic...like most Polish. Would that be a problem for the judges? He is fine once you get ahold of him. and being in a small cage he may handle easier. I also need to find where I can get info on specifications of the qualities looked for in shows.
Thanks!

I LOVE using the sand....it eliminates muddy feet and all you have to do is rake it good 1 or 2 times a week. Depends on how much poop is there. But the sand kinda acts scoopable cat litter and the rain keeps it pretty clean. and...NO SMELL.! I put about 5-6 inches in mind and it has worked great. My DH got me a ton and it was a little over $30. Well spent!
yours in the run?? I was actually thinking of in the coop itself. I did not make it up there before they closed and so have to wait till mon or tuesday to get it anyway.

Sorry guys, have not been able to post, according to Nifty it's to do with IE and so using Firefox. Anyway, got my bunny barn extension being built by the hubby!

About to start putting the roof on and finish up putting the OSB, just taking a breather for the hot day!

Try using google crome. To me it seems quicker than all the others ( IE8, Foxfire, and Sarari ).
I have used all of them in the past. Was using foxfire but sometimes it would crash out on me.
I switched to GC and it seems a lot more stable and quicker.

@LADYRIDE;
I think it was you that was asking about austrolorp breeders around. That one person I had does not have anymore...but Efowl has free shipping right now with a 15 chick minimum.
53.74 for 15 pullets total price

of course you might find some for sale at Knox or cocke county coming up also

You should be able to. Never been to a show where you cant also sell birds. Bring em on. Not sure where the sales area will be though, as the poultry barn at the fairgrounds is on a hill.....hmmm...

Conveniently, Lori just texted me so I will text her back and ask....

I use Chrome and I also use the adblock ad on. I hate ads. It helps a lot.
