Librarychicken! I live much farther south. I get my feed @Lucky's Barn on 58 hwy Georgetown,TN. A bit of a drive for you. The feed store I use to go to was in GA taxes are half in GA then TN. But they closed last year. I miss Cloudsprings Feed and Seed!
Did they close? I need to leave Birchwood more often...

thanks for the welcome! i really wanted to get chicks but i didn't have time to get everything properly set up and i thought for my first time it might be easier to get pullets or hens :) i am a little worried about my dog around the chickens...i know this seems like a silly question but do dogs barking/growling upset the birds? i think after awhile he'll get used to him but he likes to bark at everything!

Keep him a safe distance. What you think is play might actually be aggression towards the birds. Teach him not to play with them and to give them respect.
Barking has been known to unsettle laying hens. Our GSD barks and the hens just look at her like she is crazy. I guess it is just the circumstance/situation/Hen/Dog.
Welcome )

My corgi only runs the chickens if she get excited. A chicken fight or they run Or I tell her to get LaMar! My very protective spalsh maran roo. Every time we go in the yard I take a stick or tennis racket! If you do NOT have anything in your hand he will wait till you have your back turned and run up your back. Mean guy but he protects his flock well. His ladies love him. I de-spur him about every 4-6 weeks. Thankfully he is very heavy and you can hear him running across the yard to get you. He paces up and down the drive way when the kids are on the trampoline all puffed up. I'm using him for one more year then I will replace him. He is proven and is just doing his job but what a pain in the well where ever he gets you lol

Okay I have problem I don't know how to fix. My corgi keeps raiding the nest boxes. I just found her with 2 eggs. One was eaten the other I watched her play with it then open it and eat it. So, I blew out the egg and put Texas Pete inside. I put the egg on the porch. She opened it and still ate the egg! So do I keep on replacing eggs this hot bombs? Or anyone have a better idea? She is small enough to get into the coop. But big enough to gently carry the eggs to the porch. Maybe buy some bitter apple spray and pour it inside one? I was wondering why i went from 6-9 eggs aday to 4-5. She only takes the green ones.
