Okay I have problem I don't know how to fix. My corgi keeps raiding the nest boxes. I just found her with 2 eggs. One was eaten the other I watched her play with it then open it and eat it. So, I blew out the egg and put Texas Pete inside. I put the egg on the porch. She opened it and still ate the egg! So do I keep on replacing eggs this hot bombs? Or anyone have a better idea? She is small enough to get into the coop. But big enough to gently carry the eggs to the porch. Maybe buy some bitter apple spray and pour it inside one? I was wondering why i went from 6-9 eggs aday to 4-5. She only takes the green ones.

Try tibasco sauce, and no water for an hour, the water helps relieve discomfort, so if she can drink water then hot sauce is ineffective. Otherwise, train her to learn the no touch trick. You start with treats, one in both hands. You keep one treat behind your back and the other in her face but in a fist, wait until shes done trying to get the treat and looks away, use a command of choice "leave it" and then give her the treat that you've been hiding. Do it over and over until you can hold an egg in your hand and get her to learn "leave it" to the egg. It's gonna take time, but one is teaching her a positive way to leave the eggs, the other is a negative association. So, it's up to you. But the leave it command is an important command to have trained - it can be used for dogs wanting something they shouldn't.

Hope this helps, I like to train the "leave it" command.

Oh, please wait until she's given up before muttering "leave it" otherwise you'll ingrain her to ignore your first commands, which you don't want when you're teaching a command that should be only said once.

hey y'all! newbie here! we have just finished up our chicken tractor & will be heading to the poultry show tmr in hopes of getting a few pullets. anyone here going to have anything available? i'm looking for some good egg layers---maybe RIRs, orphingtons, easter eggers? i would like to get a silkie too. we just want to get 3 hens to get started. i live in knox co & i'm a librarian (in case you were wondering where librarychicken came from). lots of great info on this forum has helped me get started on keeping chickens! where do y'all purchase your food?

You should be able to find something you like tomorrow. I will have a few Delawares, a couple production reds, a couple of easter eggers, and whatever else catches my eye that needs a new home

2 of the young Delawares pullets are entered in the show and are in cage # 18
Reds are 13 months old, dels are 10 months and all lay every day (almost)

x2 Harley was taught "drop it"......but only because I've had GSD's all my life and they get satisfaction from working at bringing things...so I let him get what he is after and tell him to drop it. He lays it right at my feet and looks up at me like he has done his job.

Nothing is better than a well trained dog! I'm having trouble finding a chihuahua, the ones I like I'm having trouble getting answers back, the others have behaviors I'd have to train out of them.
