Put up the corner boards first. If the siding boards are long enough to go from one end to the other..then cut them an 1/8" long, put the ends up against the corner boards and "bow" out the middle to make it fit. Nail it from one end to the other and that little bow will push the ends hard against the corners. The reason I say tight on the corners is because when you paint you can just fill the gaps full of caulk and paint over them....but when you stain you dont want to see too much caulk, which means very little room for error.

If they are not long enough to do one piece all the way across, then you should put a slight miter on the pieces that go together to make the run across as this will make the joint much less noticeable. Your DH probably knows what I mean

We are actually planning on hanging the boards vertically. Sort of a board and batten design. At least that's what we PLAN.

yes Grawg....go get us some pics. While they are still cute, before they learn to make a mud hole out of everything they come across

Oh don't worry. When duckling cuteness is a maximum, then you will all realize the power of the duck side!

Oh I got an update that another has hatched. So hard to not put the hatched ones in the brooder...I suppose it is better for the ones still in the eggs to leave them be.

Had to get the duckling out of the incubator..they knocked the top halfway off and may have screwed up the humidity pretty good.

Here they are in the brooder:

speaking of old and forgetful...we are picnicking on the 23rd at noon right? I told terry the 3rd weekend....I think we both forgot there are 5 weekends this June

Awwwww... the little one in the back that is looking straight at the camera is my favorite. It's just too bad they grow up to be ducks!

I have a table saw. I think it's a crummy table saw. DH tells me that it's a great table saw and that my boards are always wonky because I try to shove the boards through too quickly. He's not the first person to accuse me of being impatient.

I am pleased to announce that I am mite and lice free! A couple of my broody girls were really, really skinny so I decided that I should dip them and clean out the coop to be on the safe side. Guess what? Dipping chickens? STINKS!!!!

Every time a bird's feet hit the water they would start thrashing and flapping creating a giant pesticide geyser. It went up my nose, in my eyes, in my mouth, and completely drenched me. And I had to do it fifty times!!! The good news is that I haven't had a mosquito land on me in two days.
