A & B both look like roosters to me...

Edited to add: I think the best way to tell is for someone to see them in person... I can't tell much from the photos... they may be both pullets, but it's hard with that breed to tell.

Thanks. I can't tell for sure either. I am going to try and post in the EE thread & see what they say. I really want one to be a pullet but doubt it. There was another one that was red & he has gotten the saddle feathers and neck feathers of a cockerel but it was from a different hen. Also my other white one that is a cockerel does not look like these (he's 3 wks older).

Quote: I hardly ever go against stang...because she is usually right about breeds and sex. But I have to say they both look like pullets to me. I know those darn EE mutts are really hard to tell, but they look like EE girls. I will say that A has that "if you mess with me, im going to peck your eye out" Look, though.

P.S. Great job on the washing machine box idea.

When I used to buy three large boxes just to cut them up and tape them together...I wish I would have thought of your idea.

So cute!!! Still trying to decide what kind of chickens we are going to have :)

Also a big HI THERE to those new to the thread here.

I will start with pics of the babies I got from Tennesseeckn. They are doing great. They are still eating like pigs and are a great deal more vocal than the last chicks I had (if you follow my posts you know those did not do well). I think the larger blue one has a crooked toe but it looks better than it did. I am not going to go to any extremes about the toe maybe it will grow out of it or not.

BTW they have been moved to a larger box. We got a washing machine box at Lowes and cut it down some & added a plexiglass window.

I am going to put the other pictures in the folder on my profile page (I do not want to be a pic hog)

The EE look like gals to me... now the Orps look a little roo heavy, but I see at least on black female. The are still a little young, but the girls feather faster than the boys on this breed.
I love Tennesseeckn's Orps! Here are my two girls I hatched from eggs I got from her back in Feb. One just started laying eggs last week.

new folks! sorry I haven't been on here much. I have been so busy with my little photography business, I am ready to slow down a little so I can enjoy the chickens and the fall!

Do you guys always ignore the new people, or just me. Three posts all ignored, last time on this board, thanks for the welcome!

Do you realize how often I get ignored?

I've been on here nearly a year preaching the power of the duck side and only recently has itsthelaw (really need a nickname or something) shown any hope of converting. I always take a non answer as the answer No.

And while we are on the subject of duck superiority, I think i might prefer the taste of duck over chicken... far more complex and flavorful.

Mmm, duck.

Keep trying grawg, but I will still have to pass.
Been there done that, don't want to repeat history.
Am starting to wonder about ALL animals, (no, two, four, etc legged kinds).

Why is he still a bachelor? He's a big bird, looking for love...
Maybe I could start a chicken dating site, you know for those lonely bachelors... well... most would end up in the stew pot for being mean, guess I'd be a bad match-maker!

That makes me think about a commercial that started running late at night last month. It was a dating site for farmers. I couldn't stop laughing. I told my husband that I was glad I found him when I did, or he'd probably be dating some chicken lady that had goats.

@Grawg, my name is Amy. Itsthelaw because before I moved to TN, I worked probate in NC. (started out doing real estate closings, but we all know what happened to real estate) I moved to TN in March 2011. Before I could get my occupation to take off here (I was working Patient Access at Blount Memorial), I injured my back, had back surgery and haven't worked since. So the animals have really taken my mind off not being able to do anything, meet anyone or having a real life. - There, that's my llife story.

And to add to your post, I can't eat chicken anymore. Suddenly it dawned on me what chicken was - can't do it.

I lost a guinea this morning. I held him while he died. He had been acting poorly since the last rain when he got wet. I've had him quarantined with a heat lamp. He was 6 weeks old. He must've gotten a respiratory infection. I tried anti-biotics, but I was too late. I'm sad. I had lost a chicken about three weeks ago. I need to step back and not be so invested. It is gut wrenching.

Now, ON A LIGHTER NOTE, who has chickens that are brain-damaged? I have a coop with a run. The run has a roof on 3/4 of it. My chickens are standing in the rain right now. My rooster is soaked head to toe. Dummies. I suppose I'll be trying to heal them in a few days from all the damp rain.

Thanks. So far all replies on the EE thread are 2 pullets but I still wonder about one of them. The one giving the evil eye is actually the friendliest and the one I think is a pullet.

I sometimes have a good idea like the washing machine box. I wanted a fridge box but my husband wanted to know where I was going to put it. So I had to down size.
